Aspect Ratio Off?
The aspect ratio on my game is way off. It's a small screen and doesn't even show the entire game. Like it's cut off. Not playable, and I can't find a solution. Anyone know how to fix this?

It kinda is with a 5:4 monitor. The game nativly only supports 16:9 and 16:10 resolution. Others take a bit to get working.

I didn't adjust any previous fixes suggested. All fixes here are in place, it still doesn't work.

So I'm out of luck, and more money, until I get a better display?

I can't get the mod fix to work though, and I've spent all morning and most of the afternoon working on this. I'm getting really irritated. I like Bethesda but I'm not gonna just throw money at them for fun.

The ini file resets when I close the game, so I have to go in and redo the ini file every time I want to play the game, which still isn't displaying totally well.

I don't know what the archive invalidation is. The game is running so buggy, the interface is totally screwy. I had no idea I wouldn't be able to play this effing game before my night shift started, or I wouldn't have even bothered with it today.

I can't follow most of the suggestions I'm getting here and other places. I wanted to play a game, not reprogram it. If I'd known what was entailed, I wouldn't have thrown away the 60 bucks. I'm not a software guy, I don't know most of the lingo popping up on forums, and I'm really wishing I hadn't spent this money.

I'm just gonna cut my losses and go back to PS4, this isn't how I wanted to spend my day.

Try auto correcting the aspect ratio with your monitor settings. Access them using the buttons on your monitor.

Late reply; One reason your, TheArchivist95, settings reset could be that your Fallout4.ini, Fallout4prefs.ini and Fallout4Custom.ini are auto-set to 'read-only'.

Enabling Mods is explained in an Video by Gopher, but the descriptions should explain it enough:

You will need to add the following lines to the Fallout4Prefs.ini file below the section marked [Launcher]:

bEnableFileSelection=1

You will need to add the following line in Fallout4Custom.ini:

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

As Dro already said, the DEF_UI mod allows you to change the placement of HUD items.

Another mod, that I linked previously (but forgot it needed DEF_UI), uses it to manipulate the mesh file that contains the placement of the Shaded Background.

Edit: I suck at text formating.

Edit2: formatting*

Also, another mod Dro listed, was The Fallout 4 Configuration Tool[www.nexusmods.com].
Under the tab 'Tweaks' you can set a custom resolution, probably want to set that to x=1280 and y=1024. In the same Box are four buttons you can toggle (Borderless, Fullscreen, Maximize, TopMost; Pretty self-explaining).
