Oh yeah, and stay out of junkyards.
The add children mods or any mod that has to do with children won't cause that.
Molerat burgers are a great source of protein and build strong bones, along with the milk of human kindness. XD
But on a more serious note, since you're running a modded game, there's a few possibilities:
1. Mods obviously. Uninstall (NOT disable) a few at a time until the little buggers stop spawning. Then install the last batch one at a time until you find the culprit.
2. Did you mess around with the CONSOLE lately? Maybe you tried to test your settlement defenses by spawning in a hoard of enemies?
3. Did you UNINSTALL any mods right before the problem started? Some mods, unfortunately, hold your game "hostage" since they leave behind elements, usually scripts, that get baked into your save forever. If you suspect this is the case, there is a tool you might be interested in:
