Also put your laptop's power management into Performance Mode and run it from AC power.
After uninstalling the game[normally you uninstall mods first] go to the game folder in SteamApps/common/Fallout 4 and delete anything remaining in it and the game folder. Next go to Documents/My Games/Fallout 4 and delete anything remaining in it. Now re-install the game. Last, verify the integrity of the game files. Then start the game.
Thanks you guys, I'll try this and get back to you both!
If you have done a clean install of the game by deleting the remaining files and it still crashes, then all I can think of is a couple of basic things to do.
Make sure you're running the game as the Administrator of your pc.
Try turning off your anti-virus incase it updated and is now blocking FO4.
You did verify the game files after re-installing, right?
Remember that to effectively "verify your game install", game cache, that you do have to delete your game cache folder. It is standard. The "app cache" folder could be corrupted which instills wonderful mayhem. Google it.
If you removed some .esp that had scripts you end up having black screen / istant CDT.
2. Update your Video Card Drivers to latest version
3. Update your Directx (even if you think you have the last)
4. Whitelist the game executable on your Antivir/Firewall
5. If you know what you doing, try to kill some non vital background processes.
6. If you are using an ENB/Reshade, remove it.
hope it helps
