ULTIMATE stealth melee\sniper\gun
Last post im guessing i worded myself badly, Anyone have a build settup that will allow me a max stealth\assasin build without using vats, cause i think it breaks the immersion and makes it to easy. i wanna basically be able to kill most things right away, but in stealth Both in Melle range and from a distance. and i love the idea of stealing items from NPCs and planting nades on them .

If you want the ultimate stealth build, it'll take you roughly a couple hundred hours of lootlocking spawns to get a full 5 piece set of Chameleon armor (or you could take the easy route and console it). I spent about 150 hours to get my set legitimately. There is no equal, not even a stealthboy. If you take a look at some of my screenshots, I have quite a few interesting stealth ones. It is an absolute joy to walk up to a deathclaw and shoot it in the face, then crouch (you NEED 5 piece to enjoy this special "perk", 4 piece won't get the job done, I've done numerous tests) and in moments, be [HIDDEN] while it wanders around aimlessly trying to figure out what just happened.

Why do you need a cookie cutter build of sorts? ... Chances are you get a really good laser gun/rifle in a loot drop. You should then just go with what drops and not try to play by a plan. Most players who eventually arrive at a perfect stealth sniper build usually have collected so many legendary items that they can choose any role they want really and it'll be a perfect one. You also won't be playing pure stealth or sniper by that time, because you aren't limited to play other styles but can spice it up at any time and which ever way you like.

If by perfect you mean, what's the most basic but best way towards an entry sniper build then start by putting points into Agility and Perception, because these will help you the most. You want perks such as Ninja and Sandman, as well as all the gun and rifle perks.

Regarding armor should you start with a full set of leather armor, because weight matters in detection. Mod it into "shadowed" armor with "muffled" legs, "stabilized" arms (for better aiming) and a "dense" chest (against grenades). Or just go with a full set of "deep pocketed" if you like to be able to carry a lot. Skip metal armor, stay in leather and instead try to find combat armor. You may even find yourself going back to leather later depending on which legendaries you find or for the reduced weight it offers.

Use a .38 pipe rifle and .308 pipe bolt action, plus a 10mm pistol at start. Then move onto a hunting rifle and mod it into a .50 sniper rifle. Combat rifles can be modded into .308 sniper rifles or .45 automatic rifles. All of these can have suppressors and you should get your perks up soon so you can build suppressors as you won't always find them easily in loot drops. Also get yourself a .44 for when you need to get yourself out of a tough situation. A .44 cannot be silenced, but it's light and packs the fire power of a shotgun. The .44 ammo is hard to come by, but so is shotgun ammo and you really only want to use the .44 as a last resort.

For melee weapons to become effective do you need to put points into Strength and to get the melee perk up. Don't bother with it until you have Ninja maxed and you'll also might want to get other perks before then (i.e. Science). Keep it for last and when you've maxed all the gun and rifle skills.

When you're looking to get a few nice unique weapons then search for the Deliverer (10mm with silencer), Reba II (hunting rifle, which can be modded into a sniper rifle) and Pickman's Blade (a nice, light combat knife for melee).

Know that you won't even see some items drop until you've passed certain levels. So you really only make it harder on yourself if you're trying to find the perfect build. Instead, accept that you'll go through a series of setups as you progress through the game.

1 shot from my fully upgraded machine gun with the legendary "explosive"... 1 supermutant goes "ah!", next one by its side says "uh?" then both down with th 2nd shot.... not far away, supressor, and body parts all over.
But not as good answers as previous ones, honest fun only. Maybe a bit dishonest. but fun.

I mean, barely used shotguns this playthrough, but I have like 300 .44 bullets sitting in my closet next to 1000 shotgun shells, all just from looting.

I've got a few more, but I also have 10k-20k of .38, 10mm, .45, 5.56 and power cells. If you're getting about the same ratios as I do then there shouldn't be any questions about it.

For a new play through is .44 as well as shotgun shells quite rare and not an ammo-type one should rely on. Do you disagree?

Real talk? I'd give it a shot. Maybe not from the very beginning, but once you know a few traders. Then again, I've never played on anything besides Survival, so idk how spongy enemies can be.

But like, your primary weapon wouldn't be a shotgun anyway because you'd only ever wanna pull it out against small fry or ghouls or dudes in super close quarters, so I'd say you can be pretty wasteful with dem shells.
Kyros Apr 21, 2017 @ 11:20am
Sniper = Rifleman / Perception
Gun (pistol you meant I suppose ?) = Gunslinger / Agility
Melee = Strength

To make the most use of each of these weapons you will need to be either high level or spread out your skillpoints so much that your character wouldn't be really efficient.
I tried Pistol/Rifle, while it was fun, it was definately not very strong and the weapons did not really synergize together.

I'm trying Sniper/Explosive and it looks promising.

Is that so? And isn't this what I wrote above?

Sniping and explosives is the classic combo. Stealth, pickpocket, lockpick, explosives, rifles. Scout out the area, lay a few mines along possible attack routes, take out the biggest target first then laugh as their buddies blow themselves up looking for you. Once your sneaking is good enough (rank 4, max rank is a bit OP) you can start getting a bit cheeky and stuff explosives down peoples pants. Thats always a fun time.

what do you guys find more fun tho ? , im torn on weather to go melee stealth and patince and planing and plant nadfes on people ect or if i should focus sniping . saw a build once that had a mellow combo, like 1 was prior but you had the option to cut throats as well just cant find it again XD
Zee_ Apr 21, 2017 @ 6:17pm
Well, if you play long enough you'll be able to do everything. There is no hard level cap so you will can potentially wind up maxing all stats and perks.

Edited to add: Well... the game will crash once you go beyond something like 60 thousand levels or so, I can't remember the number off the top of my head, but its pretty huge.
