Commonwealth Coffee Shelter
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1278343325

Come in, sit down and grab a cup. Coffee Room has arrived in to Commonwealth.

Feel free to stay in the topic, or jump outside of it. We are relaxed bunch. Don't mind about the super mutant standing in the corner. He is our resident poet. Robot acts as a bouncer.

What is this all about?
Coffee Room threads are general chat and modding threads that we have been making for Bethesda games. We have one for Skryim and one for Skyrim SE. Discussion about FO4 modding and troubleshooting has been going on in them. I decided that it was high time to make a thread in FO4 side.

These forums have been general conversation topics. They are also places, where people struggling with bugs and modding issues can poke around for help.

Usual stuff
  1. This is a Steam forum thread and respects Discussions Rules and Guidelines. Everyone responding to this or similar thread has read them and follows them.

  2. Regulars are bigger trolls than you are. No need to test that. I take no responsibility for someone ending up as a midnight snack, after serving him/herself on a silver plate.

  3. If you sign in to a modding site, then read their ToS. Don't just accept it, but actually read it. If you got banned from other Steam forum or modding site, then there is absolutely no point of complaining about that in here. ToS is there for a reason.

  4. We prefer that people make full forum posts about their problems. That way the problem is clearly presented and others searching for solutions to similar problems can find them more easily. If no one catches up with them, then you can ask help here, but let's use your own thread to solve issues from your game. Otherwise relevant questions will be left without answers and responses will be hidden from search engines.

  5. We learn by reading and doing. Not all players have extensive knowledge about FO4 as a game. We do have long experience from Bethesda games and modding tools in general. We also have tendency to poke under the hood and around modding tools, solving issues from mods and the game.

  6. Badgers have dibs for cookies.

Reply #1 will be reserved for links to tools, guides and tutorials. I will update it, when ever something gets done.

Have fun.

That's Xedit to use the short name. It lets you clean the masters and correct load order issues amongst other things. It's not a mod, more an essential tool. Xedit is the editor you remember needing.

Stick it in a tools folder, we can talk you through adding it as an executable in Vortex

like drag and drop the 3 files into F4 Tools folder?

Found that

No, actually I just meant to create a folder for your tools like Wrye Bash, that's not a mod either but must be run through Vortex. But you know what...? It doesn't hurt to put your FO4Edit folder inside F4 tools ... make one for WB as well and remember where they are so you can add them to vortex.

Vortex is using a virtual installation process now. So you sort of need to run the tools from inside it. At least for things that edit mods because Vortex needs to keep track of the changes. And there are times you need to purge and redeploy your mods when making changes. It's best to run Vortex in advanced mode.

One caveat is if you validate your folders your tools may get deleted. That's why I say just make a tools folder and put it in your games folder. Then just run the programs from there.

ya sorry to waste your time here, but really have no clue what to do, I downloaded and saved the 3 files and I put therm in a folder i named mods tools and put that in the folder in F4 with Body slider and Vortex, but its still grayed out on Vortex it shows them but not installed i don't think, when I click them in the folder it just opens them you like word pad

Not a problem, but it's getting late for me. Did you extract the archive into the folders or just copy the zip file (.7Z) Depending on your archive software, you should be able to right click on the file and "extract to folder" or if they are already in separate folders choose "Extract here" that will uncompress the files for you. Then in vortex you will click the add button next to the tools and point to the executable for each tool.

The current version with the least issues is 7zip (.7z) I use Winrar myself but some people have issues with it sometimes

Got one to work working on the others, Thanks and i'll post tomorrow anything I get working.
Avrie 5. Jan. 2020 um 20:20
Enjoy ... bed time for me. Work tomorrow
same, ugh got some to work not all, but when i launch the game its in a small window and Alt-Enter doesn't work and it skips the first option screen when i load
Well It says I only have 12 Active mods, and I got FO4 Edit, and maybe Bash to work, but when I start the game out of Vortex none of the mods are working, like eyes or hair mods i got off the top of the list, Do i need to edit my game ?
So I got FO4Edit, Wrye Bash, and Loot in Vortex seem to be working right, but f4se_loader I am not sure if its right. Also Wryn Bash says The Following Warnings were - Unrecognized Versions - Fallout4.esm So I am thinking I need to change something, I know on NMM back in the day I had to edit my Fallout 4 files or something. oddly enough some mods work other do not. Wryn Bash Doesnt even see my mods it just shows the game, dlc and CC stuff. same with Fo4Edit, it seems added right but doesn't show any mods ether. I only have like 11 mods added atm, CBBE, Body slide, Full Dialog ui seem to work the other I am not sure yet like, but a few added like The Eyes of Beauty, Ponytail Hairstyles, Commonwealth cuts and a few other are not working. I launch from Vortex so I have no other saved games, if I click f4se_loader on Vortex I launches the game and some mods work and some don't but different ones as above oddly enough.

I might have you log into our discord so you can post the odd picture. I'm thinking the mods that are not showing up may be installed but are nor activated ... need the green check mark next to them type of thing. I just got home. It's been a very long day. Let me get a coffee started and make some food. My eyes are already crossed but it can't hurt to look.

by the sounds of things the only thing you should be trying to use is vortex, it has Loot already, and it auto sorts for you
x-edit and wrye can wait until you are more familiar with what you are doing, or just not at all if you wish
f4se you may need, for some popular mods, but these CC updates make it a bit of a nuisance at best with FO4 (I suggest only updating with new playthroughs)
