Far Harbor radiation
Has anyone gone to Far Harbor wearing normal clothes and armor? I mean not in a power armor or hazmat suit. I don't usually use either while exploring the Commonwealth, although I have always used a power armor in Far Harbor (and also in the Glowing Sea). However I have noticed that the Fog seems to have a low-level radiation and I wonder if one can get away just with a good provision of Rad-X and Rad Away, maybe with a Vault suit with its basic rad protection and some other item. (Well I imagine some parts must be really tough to go without a suit like all the Children of Atom areas and quests).

Some of the areas around the CoA can get a little rough, but the rest of the island does little more than offer a mild irritation that can reasonably be managed by periodic visits to doctors.
If things get too much then remember that Rad-x stacks with itself, just carry some extra water around if your playing on survival.

I went without much rad protection on Survival and hated it so much I modded in a way to remove the debuff from Radaway. Even getting minimal rads the buildup was just way too annoying for me.

I have maxed rad resistance and the perk that removes rads during the day; had my character run around naked and didn't really take much rads. I haven't had to use radaway since I did that even in the glowing sea.

The Nano suit mod, helps. The Green Rad version requires some perk spending. But makes your perks more worthy. Working on the Blue melee suit currently.

Edit: it's got glowy lights on it, and really tones the glutes

plus the island has 2 unique power armor, themed to the map. More rewarding to find 1 in Far Habour than bring 1 with you

Yeah, I always find that a bother that I have to come back for the armor.

OK I finally got to FH just with my lead-lined vault suit, lead-lined combat armor, radaway and radx, and a hazmat suit in my backpack for really tough situations.

You DO get irradiated in the fog in the outfit above. It says that you are getting <1 rad, and I guess you get about a rad every two seconds. However I discovered something interesting, in the fog it is only the smoky wisps that cause you rads. There are lots of pockets in the foggy areas that don't have the wispy white fog, and in those pockets you get no rads. So if you can get to a place zigzagging through no-fog pockets, you can avoid some of the rad. Also, if you need to stand around for a while try to do it in one of these pockets. Commonly, small terrain elevations including buildings will also be fog-less.

Another problem for going naked (i.e. not power-armored) to FH is the common radstorms. Those do cause you a bit more rads, with a radx it becomes <1 rad per sec though.

Overall I think going naked is more trouble than it's worth. You can get away with it but the fact of almost not having to worry about rads while in a power armor, however uncomfortable is a big advantage. So, PA it is... *sigh*

i'm currently walking through far harbor without any type of radiation protection, i get >1 rad a sec, and a bit more in high concentration areas but so far its been manage-able with finding rad away and radx in various buildings and POIs.

You could also take one of the Rad-resist perks. It's helpful, and it's not like you can't get every perk in the game.

Just like Lead Belly, you get the most out of one perk, and the rest give deminishing returns, so I'd just stick with one.

I'm using Endurance Perk-10-2, 'Sunshine heals rads'. Works great.
No pa, no lead armor, 30 Radaway for emergencies.

For gameplay balance reasons, I don't like having 10END so I never got that perk, but does it heal Radiation if you're in shadow during broad daylight? (Like the shadow of a tree or a building)?

Yes, heals rads in shadow. but not in an interior.

The radiation is mostly just annoying in Far Harbour, since you can almost always get cued to its location by the presence of glowing motes in the air, but when I've played, the radstorms don't actually seem to do anything (normal mode, wandering about with no protection beyond 5 radiation resistance from a magazine). I assumed it was just a fair trade-off; low-level radiation scattered around constantly, but no radstorms.

We can upgrade our equipment with radiation protection, radiation damage is not high it small but happening in most of the area.

No need PA, Hazmat suit or whatever.

About 10 of x-111 compounds given by brotherhood scribe Neriah and some rad away is enough to finish all "the island" area. Not to mention there is doctors in all far harbor 3 factions HQ to remove the rads instantly.

If you join Children of Atom there is a good rad removal item too and more in their storyline.
