I am running the F4SE script extender, but not the enabler.
If you are asking for help then please create your own thread. Although your symptoms may be similar to the OPs your systems are completely different and the cause may not be the same and the remedy may be completely different as well.
You have to completely get rid of them, then verify game cache and begin a new save.
Shouldn't be. I also tried removing all the mods one by one and all together to get behind what was causing it.
Still had F4SE files inbetween my Fallout 4 folder. So right now i deleted Fallout 4 and removed all remaining Script extender files within the folder and I am reinstalling it.
If the full clean re-install doesnt fix it, i am not sure what the problem is.
And i haven't changed hardware for about 6 months now. So don't think that would be it.
I am pretty sure the game reverts to vanilla files when mods are turned off. I don't really get an issue when i disable for example an retexture mod as it will show the vanilla weapon as it should be when turned off.
I'm not really sure how it works but the files should have an node as to what the replacer textures should be replacing, so when removed, the vanilla tectures basically kick in. that's my guess. however you are right on how some mods might not " just be removed" but they won't be effecting my game when unused, or atleast, they should not be.
