Huge FPS drops in Corvega Assembly Plant
GTX 1070, i5 7600K 4.5GHZ, 16 GB DDR4 2400. I play 1080p on mostly Max settings with a few other settings on high and godrays on low and the game usually stays north of 100 FPS. But once I entered Corvega Assembly Plant for a quest for instance, I noticed a HUGE hit to FPS. It got as low as 43 at one point. My PC should be totally slaying this game at the settings that I'm playing at. Poor optimization? Any tips to avoiding these huge FPS hits?

Corvega is a known trouble spot. If you want to run better there, turn off godrays. That area has caused numerous issues on most people's rigs. I think one of the patches actually made it better than it was.
set shadow distance to medium
If you managed to get 43 FPS there with settings turned way up then you are doing well. I would recommend you turn off your FPS counter for this game if an unstable framerate bothers you.
Also you prbably want to cap your FPS at 60 because the physics in the game go wonky when they get really high. You can fall through the world or get killed by a random object in the world.
could you tell me what the utilization is for your gpu and cpu when you are at corvega pls?

i am thinking about buying a 1070 for this game, but if i can't hold 60 with a 1070 (yes, i know there are many other factors) then i will probably not upgrade for a while longer.

I read yesterday from someone that they were attacked by a rad roach clipped into a trash can.

So it looked like a trash can chasing them.

Huh, you could just purchase 2 1050's for $70 usd each and sli em and get the same result.
you cant sli 1050, 1050ti or 1060, only 1070 and above
@ 5m45, i wish you could man
I just experienced a massive crash in this place, at least I know it's not a problem exclusively with my PC.
I know this is a dead thread, but, I have issues at Corvega and I'm running an i7 8700K @ 5.1GHz (delided and water cooled), an RTX 2080 Ti (also water cooled), and 32GB of DDR4 3600 CL 14. I never see more than about 25% CPU utilization and 50% GPU utilization and still get massive frame drops at 1440p around Corvega with the game capped at 60fps and on a G-sync display. There are fewer issues at 4K (via Dynamic Super Resolution) but there is still some stutter at Corvega.
It is the shadows on all the girders.

When you start seeing this you are straining your card in the area, or have bene running the game too long without relaunching the game.
