way to keep paladin danse as a companion after synth reveal?
ok so it turned out that danse was a synth the first time i played the BOS questline i just killed him because i didnt liked him.but i this playthrough i really started to like danse because i heard his backstory.now is the question can i convince maxson to let danse enter the prydwen again?danse lives at the bunker for now but i think it would be super stupid to just doesnt allow you to get him as a companion anymore...so i would apreciate it when someone can help me with this please be there a way he is still a companion!!!

You can spare him with a conversation with Maxson after going there to kill him, but not follow through. Once you leave you'll be confronted by Maxson and you'll be able to talk with him. You will not be able to ever bring Danse near BOS again though.

this is so stupid and pisses me off why would bethesda make one of the only companions that really likes the brotherhood hated by the brotherhood its so stupid that i lost a great companion for an stupid npc!

I can see their reasoning. Most was brought up in the BOS being taught that 'Danse' was the enemy. If leadership all of a suddened did a 180, they would likely be mutined against, believing them to be synths. What would anyone be able to believe?

i think danse shouldnt be a synth in the first place he was a great companion but if i want to continue to work with him the brotherhood is my enemy but my whole playthrough is build upon working with the brotherhood its so stupid.this quest is one of the only interessting quests in fallout 4 but they still managed to make the quest really bad by losing a great companion

It's call a literary tragedy. You rarely see them in games because it ends up limiting the player, or their progress if their companion is the tragedy. More popular in classical writings. I like the BOS, but I'm not a die hard bother. I found it to be quite the interesting plot twist, one of the few post twists I didn't figure out instanty. Although I think their is a mod that makes the BOS friendly with them again. (Danse is only KOS by BOS in vanilla, not you, though you may occasionaly get attacked).

There was supposed to be another ending for the BoS wherein Danse takes the mantle as Elder. The voice files are in the game, and probably some of the rest of it, but it was never implemented. I think there is a mod that deals with this. Would make sense, most likely with Danse as Elder slowly removing Maxson's hard-edged policies and tending towards a more Lyons-like BoS.

Also to mention, this quest is incomplete. It the start of the unfinished player takes control of the BOS quest line, with Danse at your side. Maxson was suppose to order you to kill Danse and you had the option to kill Maxson instead.

I mean. That's the twist isn't it? That's what makes it a surprising spin.

There's a mod on Nexus to remove BoS hostility after you save Danse. It never made sense to me that the BoS as a whole would be immediately hostile upon seeing, at a distance, someone they believe to be dead, regardless of what he's wearing.

Im glad i read this thread, i have never gotten that far in any of my plays, as im a perfectionist, and always restart if i make a too big mistake.
Then again, i always have to fight like crazy my urge to shoot any BOS on sight, as i find them inherently evil, always have ever since they got introduced in the earlier games.:steamhappy:

They should have written a way to get Danse to DiMa in Far Harbor (it would just send Danse there off-screen if a player didn't have the Far Harbor DLC). But, Bethesda's doing the writing, not me. Sadly.

If Danse wasn't at least thrown out by the Brotherhood, I wouldn't have been able to run a character (who I called Siang) with the end goal of bringing him along to fight them all during Airship Down.

As literary tragedies in gaming go, the other one that comes most famously to mind is Aerith from Final Fantasy VII, which seems like a weird comparison to put alongside Danse. :steammocking:

Blind betrayal has to be complete with maxon being convinced to let Danae live in order for Danse to live.

If blind betrayal is triggered at any point and the player doesn’t do this danse will die when the story is complete.
