only thing i didnt like was the amount of fule cell burn on the beasts
1 mod fixed that very fast
oh and the helmet ui was a downgrade from the nervada teams helmet ui in fonv
The fuel burn is definately annoying, but the perk for it helps a ton and makes sense where it is on the tree. Considering the sheer strength of the armor, it needs to have limiters.
They should expand on combat armor since it has a lot of potential especially in utility(desert rangers)
How they used to be ? Fusion cores were only added to Fallout 4. Before if you wanted to use power armor you had to get the power armor training perk and that was it.
As for varients I could see it for sure. But I think it would be more like Fallout 3 where you had the medic power armor for example that was a prototype. It would only make sense that there would be descarded and forgotten prototype power armor that you could find. Maybe something with some kind of advanced AI, or built in stealth technology. Or perhaps an even heavier varient that has working shoulder mounted miniguns.
RIP FO Powered PJ's...
The shorter charge was for gameplay balancing purposes, otherwise they'd need to be ultra rare to find...
As it is I have over 400 (minus what I've bothered selling) on my first character...
I hope Fo5 will feature a set of super heavy weapons that's PA usable only, perhaps restrict ammo or let the guns wear out so they can't be used 24/7. Also weight carried should determine battery load to a certain degree.
Everything everywhere else has been made or remade post-war, likely with extensive modifications to the original concept and power systems. Presumably the great war stock had some sort of modification done to their fusion engine such that they didn't occasionally explode in combat, likely the battery system, as well as massive power draw to run its integrated electronics systems. Remember that electronics are very underdeveloped in this world due to the failure to discover the semiconductor, and the idea that a man-sized suit somehow has the room for even a single simple one is almost crazy. Like, Vault-Tec had pipboys and they were literally the only ones in the whole world. Also keep in mind that in this world a fusion core is somewhere around a 12v battery in terms of how common it is, so making a wildly inefficient design based on it seems relatively economical.
I think instead of having both FO3/NV & FO4 style power armor, they should just expand on combat armor.
The Marine Combat Armor is already a pseudo power armor in combat armor form. Taking this step would make sense lore wise I think.
Power Armor has always had this impression of being this suit that allows its wearer to be almost over powered so they should keep FO4 style power armor to keep that feel and expand on its combat armor instead.
