I think it's a bug - I'm on a PC
Thanks for helping.
Have you already used the jet pack in the past and now you notice the difference?
You're suppose to use it in controled burst to maximize how far you can fly. If you just keep it on you're suppose to fly for about that long. 2-5 secs.
What does months of play have to do with your Action Points? They are based upon Agility and perks. Are you falling before you run out of AP? Its the meter on the right had side of your hud?
No, I meant Intellect. But I was wrong. It is Agility.
You hit the spacebar twice and hold it down. The more AP you have the longer the jets will work until you have to land and recharge your AP. There is also a limit to how high you can go in one jump. Use the jumpjets to get to a higher place, land and then jumpjet to a higher point beyond that. If your AP is very high you can jump from a high ledge or building and go about maybe 500 to 700 feet forward before having to land.
It doesn't seem to matter whether you've got Agility and Endurance (or any other SPECIAL score) at 1 or at 100 when it comes to using the jetpack.
EDIT...
So I've been playing Fallout 4 for years now (4000+ hours - I know, addict level), and ever since I started, a jetpack would let me go to any altitude I wanted. Some mods break this, so that jetpacks only hold the initial jump altitude while holding the spacebar.
Delete all jetpack and jump-related mods and start a new game. Give yourself the perks to be able to add a jetpack to power armor. Go get the nearest PA suit from the crashed vertibird by the robot junkyard and add a jetpack at sanctuary. You should be able to jet jump as high as you want. Exit the game, and then try adding back in mods one at a time until you find the one that kills the jetpack.
"Real working jet pack" caused it most recently for me. Removed the mod, went to a clean save, and jetpack works as it should again.
