Phase 1 is a lot easier than you probably think. He seems very intimidating but in fact all the attacks are very much telegraphed. First, you must unlock target and keep him at mid-distance, then wait for his moves. Be wary, you have to strike dragons' head to do substantial damage to the dragon. Here are attacks that create opening for head strike in the 1st phase:
- Flying around and shooting a lightning spear followed by strike from above
- Dragon fire breath (horizontal)
- Regular attacks indicated by a stump sound.
When he flies around, this is when you lock on, then simply avoid the lightning spear. Then UNLOCK target, dodge the attack when he approaches from above, and immediately run towards him. This is the best opening to strike the dragon's head multiple times. The fire breath (horizontal) is always the same and a great opening for a few head strikes: dragon moves to the right and start spreading the fire. Easily avoidable by rolling to the right, then just run towards the boss. The regular attacks are always preceded by a strong stump sound, so you know exactly when Nameless King is going to attack. He does a mix of single and multiple strikes, so watch out for them. When he start flying up and do AoE fire, this is when I run away. I don't know if there's any opening to punish him--I always avoid this attack.Phase two is IMO more challenging. His damage is massive and has quite delayed attacks with very tight windows to roll through. Second part of phase 2 also adds two AoE attacks you have to dodge or use Lightning resistant shield. However, it is not that bad. As always practice will make you better and you eventually learn to time all attacks.
I also recommend anything that increases lightning resistance. As to weapon, it really doesn't matter what you are going to use. Anything will do. Irithyll Straight Sword worked well for me with a fire Pyromance to cancel Frostbites. Just use the weapon you feel most comfortable with.
