DARK SOULS™ III

DARK SOULS™ III

Is it possible to duplicate boss souls?
In elden ring you can duplicate remembrances at the mausoleums, and I know the souls game have allot of shared mechanics, but sometimes it's hard to tell what's new and what's old, so I figured I'd check and make sure. I got the pontiff's left eye from vordt's soul but it really doesn't seem that good so far, it's not something I think I would restart over but it would still really suck if I was stuck with it

Sadly no, you cannot duplicate boss souls. But you can always ask the discussion board for a boss item if you want both items.

Pontiffs Left Eye depends on your gear. It works really well with fast multi-hit weapons such as the sellsword blades. If you attack multiple enemies at once, you can fully recover your health even from like 1% hp left.

That's a shame, I was considering asking the forums but I decided to just grab an item and see how it felt. I'm more of a heavy hitter, I landed on the great machete so it doesn't really suit my build, but I could experiment. It was kinda hard against bosses, but I had a blast using the fist weapons in elden ring, and I just found the ceastus, so I might play around with that for a bit

If you end up sticking with the heavy weapons, then Vordt's would be a good early choice. Hits hard and has frostbite for extra damage. I even see folk in endgame using Vordt's. If you end up wanting one, then I am more than happy to drop one for you.
Ceastus is fun and has the Endure AoW from ER. It might have a bit of difficulty playing with the Pontiff's Left Eye since it's range is short which would make hitting multiple targets harder.
And since you're still in early game, you probably don't have too many rings just yet, so it may never hurt to keep having the Left Eye still equipped if you got nothing better.

On the other side is a great hammer with insane Frost build-up that basically trivializes the game (up until you get your hands on Dragonslayer Greataxe, anyway).

Not something that I would recommend picking up if you want a fair challenge.
Vordt's Great Hammer is one of the best weapons in the game, great hammers are very good in DS3 (much stronger than in ER), and Vordt's is top tier, it stays strong throughout the whole game including the hardest DLC boss (Slave Knight Gael), and is lots of fun in PvP as well.

But you can just ask someone to drop it for you.
Game really needed bonfire ascetics so you can continue to coop with people.
If its for their spells and weapons a little trick is get Honest merchant mod sells all the spells and weapons inc boss ones!!
