but surely he's just a manifestation of the lords? doesn't it say someone basically the soul just sits there protecting the flame? surely normal humans can't even go there, or does he go out on 'day trips'
Hes kind of a manifestation of every single person that kindled the fire.
but that's what confuses me, the bell had just rung, or was ringing at that point, so surely there weren't ashen ones to challenge him?
not to mention, in order to challenge him, the Lords would have had to be on their thrones, and they wernt.
pretty certain it is, wearing the cinders armor at minimum, and no one else has that set in game.
the dark shrine is in the past tho isn't it? hence why gundyr is there before he gets turned into that abomination we see in the very beginning.
man they do leave this stuff open ended lol
Well it isn't only "ashen ones" that are able or seeking to link the fire. The undead had that same goal in previous games, and even "lords" or "gods" like Gwyn have done so in the past. I don't really know if the Soul of Cinder was alluded to in a cinematic or not, but if he were that's the explanation I'd go with.
good point, but gwyn and others wernt essentially regular people. and in our timeline neigh on every human being is dead, with but a few left, so not sure what to make of it.
I think there's something to it, as we see the cinder, or its armor , dragging someone then kneeling down.
I'm also curious, the cinder is there to protect the flame, since it's dying why doesn't it help return the lords? or sacrifice itself?
I found this it was a pretty interesting video about the cut content in which you would be able to make bonfires. You would be able to drag hollows and drive a sword into them, much like the apparent “soul of cinder” was doing in the intro cinematic.
What is the sword he/it is using? The closest match I can find is the basic broadsword...and something doesn't look right. The blade on the box art is too narrow and too long to be the broadsword, but the hilt matches no other straight sword in the game.
Its also possible that the coiled sword weapon was another last-minute change. There are several others.
