What's the point of dragon form?
I'm analyzing dragon forms and, other than looking good, what's the point?

>Dragon form
PROS
-Allows you to use the dragon stones.
CONS
-No armour means nearly zero flat resistances and zero absortion, with an small elemental resistance but weak to lighting.

>Dragon head vs Twinkling dragon head
-First is faster to cast, but half damage. The second takes TWO seconds to start. Both deals damage in ticks at a rate of 1 PER SECOND... and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ damage

>Torsos
-First gives a nice "Force" miracle, fast to cast, that will push enemies away and give for 5 seconds a buff that increases your damage, i think 10% increase. The second takes TWO seconds to cast, deals some damage and the same buff.

Just talking about the form, you lose a lot of resistances (and zero poise, whatever that means), but maybe the stones make it worth. The basic stones seems nice, specially the roar with the buff, it can be nice, and the head.. well, to finish enemies, cheap, fast to cast and epic range...

But the twinklling stones... USELESS?!? Both take TWO FULL SECONDS to cast. They look great, but... i dont see them viable.

Opinions?

The point of the Dragon Form is to let everyone know you're the Master of Ceremonies in a PVP Fight Club.

From shoved the tradition into the game without giving it proper thought. In Dark Souls, there was a Dragon Covenant which allowed people to become dragonoids that dealt massive damage with their bear hands. In Dark Souls II, you became a dude or girl in dragon armor revolving around Kalameet with good defense / stats.

Here you're a starving deer hybrid that is not only naked, but your bear hands do jack crap for damage along with the fact the torso abilities all suck. I believe it was shoved into this game without consideration on what the dragon form should feature so people would benefit from it.

Ooookay...

I just tested the NORMAL stone. That battle roar with 0.3 seconds of casting time is epic, just broke a guard for a free riposte... im thinking dragon form is only useful cause of the fast roar. The fire is just useless. And the two twinkling stones, with the 2 seconds casting time, are plain useless, even if looking good.

More thoughts?

After some testing myself, it seems like you can punish people who hurdle behind heavy shields / greatshields. But trying that on players whom rely on their rolls or block rarely with their shield is a no go. They'll just smack you during the animation and stun lock you.

Best to time it wisely, like what you do with spells. Much harder to land them in PvP as well, but are effective if you pull it off.

turning into a dragon is cool and all but executed poorly.
i'd rather have a legit dragon covenant with dragon dueling signs again rather than just turning into a dragon.
its supposed to be the final game in the series for the time being, and there is no proper dragon covenant?

i'm pretty sure half of these people would've been fine if they just copy and pasted something like the dark souls 2 dragon covenant......anything would've been better than nothing.

but i guess being a naked wimpy dragon is cool......

I'm starting to think that they will fix those things in the DLC. Maybe in some DLC we have a proper dragon covenant with the dragon eye, maybe a blue eye orb.. who knows. It's what you say, it's maybe the last dark souks, and they did those things bad?...

PD: the dragon roar is insanely op if the enemy has a shield. Maybe this stone alone makes the dragon form useful, i'll test against non-shield ones.

And i still dont see the point of the head, and the twinkling stones with 2 seconds cast time

i'm sure there ARE some decent things about the dragon stones.
theres got to be some lol.

i just feel like no matter what, using those items the cons outweigh the pros.

That seems to be a pattern in this game. Same goes for the Darkmoon covenant or poise. It's all rushed and sloppy.

- Dev: Sir should we put Dragon form in the game?
- Miyazaki: Yeah, probably, whatever.
- Dev: And what do you want it to do.
- Miyazaki: I don't know, nothing, anything, just put it there and figure something out.
- Dev: What about Darkmoons? Take it out?
- Miyazaki: Nah, leave it there.
- Dev: Right now it's functionally identical with the Blues.
- Miyazaki: Yea, whatever, who cares. Anything else?
- Dev: Well, poise is...
- Miyazaki: You know what, f...k you, I don't have time for this. I didn't even want to do the second Dark Souls, let alone third. Bamco pleaded and threatened so I said I'll let them tout my name as a director, to avoid the debacle with DS2, but I wouldn't actually do anything. I'm working on my brand new IP, it's gonna be another PS4 exclusive so sod off and leave me alone.

You won the internet today. +1

I am abit confused that with how dragon form doesn't seem to take into account that by wearing no armor you get flat damage reduction decrease.

Would make sense just to make the dragon form count as wearing armor, even if its bad armor.

anything would've been better than it is now.
i seriously wanted a legit dragon covenant and i thought we were going to get one with the amazing area.
everything about it says dragon. the colors are amazing and the enemies aren't too hard and
Havel is in the area too, looks like he just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rekt a dragon
the area boss is a pain in the ass as well. everything about the area is just amazing but there is no shrine or dragon eyes to use for pvp and covenant progress????

potential squandered. :[

The full game is a "potential squandered". The game is amazing, has amazing things, like invasions, red signs for pvp... just everything is great. Then we have another dumb, bad done, useless things.

-Dragon form and covenant
-Darkmoons with no blue orb
-Poise mechanic
-Wyvern boss fight

etc

Please just drop 1-2 more months into development, so they can fix those things... or patches. JUST DONT LOSE THAT POTENTIAL FOR THE LAST SOULS GAME

In dragonform you can perform self-fellatio.

i don't think i would've hated the wyvern boss fight if it was earlier on.
would've been a cool nod to dark souls 1.

we shouldn't have had practically a tutorial boss that late in the game.
maybe not late, but it's way to far from the start for them to just throw the asylum demon 2.0 at us lol tho i do kinda think the final area boss makes up for how easy the wyvern boss fight is.
