Try beat the game as a pure int, then as a pyro and see the difference...
Great heavy soul arrow, great soul dreg, pestilent mist, both dragon rings, sage ring, moonlight greatsword. There you go now the game is easy mode.
EDIT: Also don't use soul spear, it's a trap. GHSA will do as much damage for much less cost. Even at max int it's only like 50 points of damage less than soul spear. And Great soul dregs will do over 1000 before even pyro spells do. Pair it with the murky long staff and use the buff.
Even GHSA deals only spell buff *2,4 damage. Court Sorcerer's Staff with optimal stats can reach 238 soulbuff at 60 INT. Considering mobs with high resistance, it is an awful spell. I i remember correctly, it can't OHK even dogs dogs...

Repair how easily he can dodge any spell and even when he got hit, he took almost no damage.
You can compare the same spell. Affinity is awful if compared to DkS2 affinity and Pursuers from DkS1... I never killed an invasor on DkS 3 as a sorc, as a pyro, i wined some... But on 2 or 1, i generally win most invasions.
No, my point is. My fireball can OHK dogs. My combustion too. The sorceries that can OHK dogs costs much more stamina, FP and takes much more longer to be cast.
There are ZERO reason to NOT use pyromancies over sorceries. Hell, Great Chaos Fireball can OHK knights before i got even large titanite to upgrade my pyro flame. And even pyro, is too weak if compared to previous games(at least viable)

PS : The highest damaging spells on DkS story are on DkS 2. Forbbiden Sun(pyro), Climax(Hex) and Soul Geyser(Sorc) are all very high damage. Hell, Soul Geyser is 4 times stronger than GHSA on DkS 2 and probably 8 times stronger than GHSA on DkS3 and Dark Bead requires that you hit all orbs to deal massive damage. DkS 2 high powerful spells don't require it.
Beside, i´m happy with the way it is.

Apparently on DkS 3 only the ultra fast melee weapons are viable. This is sad because i like to use polearms and sorcery... I don't know why DkS 2 is soo hated, sure, has some problems, like ADP and soul memory, but at least i an not forced to play in the ultra quick melee way...
Hell, on history polearms was far more prevelant than swords by a lot of reasons. How many people you see using polearms or sorcery on pvp if the game is balanced?

Anything is viable in Ds3 if you know what you’re doing.

Boi are you in for a surprise when someone starts hucking Alluring Skulls at you and they just ignore your spells to poise through the animations. Be fearful of the Greatsword user with a pocket full of skulls.
