Is the Uchigatana of any use?
Hi,
I have infused my long sword with fire.
Now I found an Ushigatana.
Is it of any use, or could I sell it for souls?
Thanks

Depends on what build you are going for, but generally you should never sell weapons, as you can't get them back, they give almost no souls and you might one day change your mind about your build. The only reason to ever sell weapons is if you want to maximise your efficiency for item swapping tactics, but i assume you are new so you probably aren't doing this kind of stuff.
So basically, no do not sell it.

Anything that requires to increase dex can be sold for souls.
Yawelcome.

If anything, sell souls that you pick up and embers. Embers give you a 30% health boost and allows you to be invaded and summon, including the npcs. So sell sparingly.

Its the better katana on the beginning of the firstplay!!! And he is long enought to touch someone where the other cant (well nodachi can!)

Oh. Because according to numbers, the long sword (especially infused with the fire gem) has better damage than the uchi.

In fact I'm following a STR/DEX build I found on youtube.

Selling souls? Not using them?

Or maybe later on with more DEX the katana will become better than my sword, especially as this one will not scale as I infused them?

Thanks

Well, the thing is it appears that the longsword has more damage, but thats temporary. Its because you made it a fire longsword, which makes it do more base damage, but also makes you get no additional damage from stats, thereby making it good early game, bad late game. It also depends on your stats, the katana is best with high dex, the longsword is best with a mix of strength and dex.

Ok thanks.
Will store it then.

Still I don't understand the statement above to "sell" souls. We do not use them, to earn souls?

btw it also means while I have the fire longword it is of no use to increase strength? Then I may increase the DEX value of my build, until I find a good STR weapon, so I could use the katana better?

Last, do you think there is a better build to follow for a new player than this STR/DEX build?

The Uchigatana, and most katanas in general, are for DEX builds, and are somewhat difficult to use, but very rewarding if you use them right.

Also keep your fire longsword. It is useful against certain enemies (cathedral of the deep) that are vulnerable to fire.

Also a STR + DEX build means you should get whatever weapon you want refined. A lothric knight sword is a very good straight sword when infused with a refined gem, but only if the aforementioned stats are somewhat high (30 atleast).

Selling souls and using them gives the same amount of money, but selling is faster. Do not sell or use boss souls until you know what you want your stats to be like.

It does indeed do nothing to increase strength while you are using the fire longsword, however be aware that you can always remove the fire from it, which makes it able to benefit from strength and dex again.

A quality build (Meaning a STR/DEX build) is probably the best build in the game for new players, if not the best build in general. Not only is it effective and easy to use, it also allows you to use almost any weapon in the game, allowing you to experiment with many different weapons, which is perfect for a new player as it allows you to figure out what kind of weapon you want to use, and it allows you to learn about weapons faster.

They are very easy to use, don't fool yourself. I have used the frayed blade in the past and done very well with it, you just need to use the speed of the r1's and use the occasional running attack to suprise your opponent, use r2 to punish with range, weapon art r1 as punish, weapon art r2 to spam when people roll around you, nothing hard about any of what i said. About as much skill required as a straigth sword, which doesn't say much.

With this STR/DEX build though, I'll have to find better and lighter armor, as I'm quickly over the 70% loadout.

This is the build I'm following:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4X_yh_5vGw&list=PL5Gr_jxTZEGmFsER9ui35pK5UL5apxHqo&index=2

How the Build Looks at SL 85:
Vigor - 31
Attunement - 14
Endurance - 25
Vitality - 15
Strength - 30
Dexterity - 32
Intelligence - 10
Faith - 10
Luck - 7

With that in mind, I cannot carry on a lot of things :)
This is vitality that tells how much you can carry, right?

Unsure yet what I should improve while I level. I'm at 15 STR and 16 DEX for now, 10 in INT and faith, unsure what I improved beside that... I'm about at SL 17 or 18.

Try to get your vigor to 27 and endurance to 22 as fast as possible, prioritizing vigor above endurance. This will help you alot.

Thanks.
btw what to do with the broken swords I find? They sell for 3 souls, for now I sold them.
Also, I sold the armor I found on the guy with the katana, because I'll never use such bad looking armor ^^
