How to get to the roof of the firelink shrine?

All the videos show them climbing a ladder but the ladder is elevated and not climbable.

There is a way of jumping off a tree near the tree that drops seeds, you can youtube a video for it. You don't get the estus ring, but you get almost everything else.

I thought jumping off the tower bridge would kill me. Apparently you can survive the jump.

Theres a whole in the bridge near the middle. Use it to drop down onto a platform then from the platform to the roof.
