how do we use shield bash ?
so most greatshields have the shield bash ability with the exception of: for the twin dragon, ancient dragon shield (not 100% physical defence) and the curse ward greatshield (ugly) and wolf knight shield (farmed for 3 hours still don't have the swordgrass)

and as we all know you can get staggered while doing the animation and you take full damage

so i would like to know: as bad as that ability is, is it possible to make use of it in PVE and PVP and if so i would like some advices please

I think the Wolf Knight Shield has the Weapon Skill ability but not sure. Altho you could use the shield bash for offensive and defensive purposes. When you hit you block damage too. So if someone's is being very aggresive, rather than blocking his hits, you could attack him while defending yourself. Smae goes for defensive purposes

Shield bash has its use like when the opponent is going to parry you for your r1 spam but then they got bashed in the face instead.

problem is you do in fact take damage during the entire animation (wich goes against the description) AND you get staggered during the first half of it where you are pulling the shield back, so if someone is spamming your shield doing the shield bash would be the same as opening your guard

well it is actually a pretty good idea for PVP altough i still wonder how it could be used for PVE as i mainly play PVE as for right now and rarely go on online mode

You don't use shield bash, you sit there and block because you are unable to attack or roll away and hope you don't get caught. Which is why most ppl don't bother with shields unless they use them for parrying or with great magic shield.

Just tested it with Lothric Greatshield.

You can be hit during the shield bash windup and stunned.
However after the windup you block the enemy attacks as normal while doing the bash attack. Tested against lothric knights.

Time it better then. At the windup this happens, yeah. But after the windup, so when you actually bash with your shield, you will block and wou won't get staggered.

Not a problem I don't use it either. Tho I don't find stuff I don't use useless out of the bag. I either accept that ic can be useful but I don't bother with it, or try it out (I mean at least half an hour testing) myself and get to a conclusion.

Time it better you say? With a windup that takes even longer than an Ultra swing...

lol

Yep time it better. Lets you stagger an enemy while blocking there attack for less stamina than, blocking there attack outright, kicking them, or rolling out of the way. In addition if there in a stagger you can follow it up with critical hit for extra dmg. Timing it right can lead to new exciting playstyles. The only issue I see so far is the focus cost for it is quite expensive.

I suppose you may have a point. Just circle the enemy for hours and hours until they fall asleep or go afk to use the restroom, at that point, that is the time.

Technically we could use them for the same thing as mobs do - guard-breaking.
Every single shield-using enemy in the game will hit you with a shield time to time and that hit deals ennorums damage to stamina when blocked.

That's what shield bashing should be for, but i honestly never managed to break any guards with them.
Its another thing that Frommy should buff one day.

also it's quite impressive how these spear and shield hollows have an unbreakable guard of steel just from wielding a wooden shield

It's a trend in all dark souls, the great shield bash is useless.
Dark souls 3 took it to the next level by adding FP cost to the useless move.
