You can eat food which gives hp, use skills which heal hp, only other way is to use potions or rest in a bed. Dinner,Rivellon fries,Roasted Pork heal for 15%. Most other food heals for 10% on average, be it a apple, orange, carrot, etc. They are very cheap and npcs get more stuff every hour (ingame time ).

The Hydro Element school has a good novice healing spell great for mages and even for non mage to have, Man at Arts you can use Cure Wounds which is a novice spell for that skill branch.

Easy way is keep an eye out for a palate or bed to rest in... heals you quite quickly!
General mentioned the other ways of course!

I usually take a character with 1 point in hydrosophonist for regeneration ability! Even if you don't use it in combat (due to the AP cost in combat).
i am in the start of the game right after i exist that underground . there is this orc fight it seems i have nothing to regenrate health. since my main heroes arent healers . seems i am kinda screwed lol. also i didnt find anything that can heal most of my hp loll.

your characters will heal as soon as they level up at the bridge to the fight

The start of the game is rough because without healing skills, your only healing is the couple of potions you start out with and reaching level 2. Maybe you could load a previous save and try to do the fights better without losing so much HP.

Do the shells you find all over the beach prior to that heal you if you eat them??

Nah they just add water resist. You can do the tutorial dungeon betwen the first fight and the orc fight. You'll probably find some food between the crates on the beach, the tons of boxes in the tutorial dungeon, or bartering with the bridge guards.

For the orc fight, it's a mistake to try to rush into that fight. You don't have the gear yet. Just let the guards win it for you. You can help by shooting/igniting the oil barrels to tip the scale in the guards favor, or cc ing them. But let the guards soak the dmg.

You can sleep in bed or smth like that to restore HP.

The best is regeneration spell from water magic. The cooldown is good and you can have your party full HP in no time.

If you want a cheesy tactic, just have each (main) character hold on to their respective "pyramid", and then if one is dangerously low (without any potions or spells), just have them flee and teleport to the 'North Gate' waypoint, and sleep in the pallet, then teleport back into the fight.

Ez.

I had a rogue......had to use "doctor?" I think it was, 100 times. lol
Is no Passive healing you MUST using healing items, food, this fights pretty rough but if you wait at top of the hill for the orcs to engage the legion soldiers you can come in from behind and blow the barrel up to pretty much wipe them out.

Did I waste a skill shot taking the low level heal skill on my Rangr then? It heals so little. Eating an Apple is twice as effective it seems.
