Weresheep quest broken?
So I'm trying to backtrack to complete Weresheep quest, so I went back to Cave of Portals where you dig up the ghost of Weresheep.
The guide tells me to enter the left portal, which is ice, but it only sends me back to the middle portal, and all other portals in the same room do the same, except the said middle portal which sends me to the library. I can't seem to get to the "grassy area" to dig up the damn sheeps body.

This game ♥♥♥♥♥ up a lot of quests if you don't do the game in the order designers intended you to. Is this one of them?

If you are looking at a guide then spoilers I suppose don't matter to you, in which case skip to the last step... Everything before it does not matter in the slightest, only points you to where to find the wereship and how to bring him out of the shadows...

The wereship ghost you are trying to dig up is found at the second set of portals (with high perception), which might not be "reachable" if you already completed the portal quest and pulled the lever in the library...

There are books and lore on the weresheep everywhere, all point to the "phantom forest" and a "large tree" and the weresheep likes "stardust herbs"... Get to the phantom forest and just bring the weresheep out and kill it...

Yeah, I completed that part way before. Anyway, I finished the game.
Damn shame that it's riddled with bugs, broken quests and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of useless items. it really suffers from a special "quest item" inventory tab.

What broken quests?
BalkanBiker Jan 10, 2016 @ 8:20am
For example this quest. If you don't do it the way designers intended you to you can't complete it.
A while ago, when the game was released, I couldn't progress in death knight spell quest since I misplaced Leandra's Blood. Probably sold it somewhere for 1 gold.
And I finished the game with about 15 quests left. One of them was the pyramids quest you get at the very early beginning, since I couldn't figure out how to finish it even after finding both pyramids.
That's just a few examples of many.

Yeah, it's possible to make some quests unfinishable if you don't do stuff in the order expected by game designers.

Still, I finished the game with all quests completed because I was careful and always read all books and papers (reading it's very important for the quest log updating).

Yeah, I read everything I find, and I'm the explorer type, I check every corner of the map. The quest/inventory part of this game is very messy.

I already explained how this is a false statement, at least in regard to 'this' quest being the weresheep... Wasn't broken and could have still been finished...

Maybe, it still makes the game one big mess. I'm not going to hunt for some random scrips god knows where in the game world to point me to some tree in phantom forest. The quest points to the cave, not random parts.
As I said before and I stand by my opinion, this game is a mess.

The flaws you point out are with your ability to complete the quests, not with the game having buggy quests.

You seem to think that every quest in the game must be impossible to fail, or worse yet, so easy that the solution will fall into your lap without having to put any thought into it.

Those are your flaws, not the game's.

And FYI you did not sell Leadra's Blood because quest items cannot be sold. They do not even show up in the trade interface.

Quests don't complete if you don't complete them correctly. Wheras some games move them to a "Failed" list, this games chooses to leave them in your quest log to taunt you over your failure.

But go ahead and keep blaming the game for your mistakes.. whatever helps you sleep at night.

Stop defending the game, it's not your girlfriend.
It's a mess, fact, you can't just look away from a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up inventory and items being all over the place, plenty people are pointing this out in their reviews, I'm not the only one.
As I said before, it's not your girlfriend, admit it's flaws.

I have no problem admitting actual flaws.

I made specific comments regarding the false statements I quoted. Every specific complaint made that I responded to was due to the player's error and not a game bug.

Try dealing with facts instead of emotion based personal attacks.

An example, you can find the key and get into that basement related to Nick's quest before even encountering his head. And in this case you won't be able to progress in his quest, Nick will refuse to talk to you even after you brought him to the basement.

So did anyone ever find an answer to whether the quest is bugged? Im in the same boat, I know how to finish the quest, but the weresheep won't spawn. Id also like to note that i can't interact with the kickstarter tree, I hover over it and nothing, no gear icon, doesnt highlight, etc.

I've done this and you are correct, his head won't talk to you in the basement sometimes!

This however does not mean you cannot complete the quest, as I did... Just bring the head directly to Nick's body in the Black Cove and I was able to complete the quest skipping the part talking to his head in the basement...

You can buy Nick's journal off of his corpse when you meet it in the Black Cove and it spells out very clearly "which head the corse is missing", talking to the head in the basement isn't required...

You don't have to touch the tree at all, just throw a stardust plant (not STARDUST in bag form) at the base of the tree itself, regardless of if you have even STARTED the quest the weresheep will show up according to script...

yeah I tried that it didn't work. I've put it in multiple locations it will not Spawn. I was just mentioning the fact that I also could not interact with the kick starter tree. I even dropped an herb in front of the tree went and did some other stuff came back and it still there. I dropped 10 individually all over the place, nothing happened I dropped a stack of 10 nothing happened
