Sorry for the necro, but controllers face the problem too lol. I've been going at it for an hour. I'll just try to get ahold of the Ex-Skill, then. This makes me wonder if the stupid timing issues for the boulder is just a bug. I know some games have physics tied to fps, so maybe the fact that the modern ports are 30fps is actually causing this issue? The gamecube version was 60fps. Regardless, this seems like really bad puzzle design to require an ex-skill that players have a good chance of ignoring in favor of other more useful skills. Plus some people might just be using another character aside from Lloyd, and never even realized the solution.
yeah it could be an fps issue. sadly they'll never release a proper port of this game.

That accessory is very late game, so if you want to play most of the game at faster than normal map movement speeds it will have to be using Lloyd's Personal skill, but Lloyd doesn't really have any outstanding EX Skills that demand full slots like other characters so having it is pretty easy.
