Just died to the last boss (Main story) at last phase
How do I stop that from ever happening again. I ran out of healing items and my damage is garbage

exit the dungeon and get some new gear

yeah. new gear will help. STICK WITH IT. the fight is awesome when you finish it.

Grind some more and adjust your Wave Build for Regen.
Go trade all your junk at all the hubs - get more healing items that way.
Take a break from the dungeon, do some other quests or chest looking.
