Deck OLED Brightness / Color issues
I have been playing this game on Deck LCD for a while and it's been great. When I go to open it on Deck OLED, though, I find the colours and brightness are very oversaturated and washed out, to a point where it renders the game almost unplayable.

Is there some setting or other that I should be changing to fix this? As I say, it's only an issue on this new console - never a problem with my old LCD Deck or on desktop, and I haven't encountered it on any of the other games I've installed so far on the new OLED deck either.

EDIT: I tried streaming the game from my laptop (LCD) to the OLED deck and that actually fixes the problem, although it does look considerably dimmer than on my desktop's OLED screen. But clearly the OLED CAN display this game in a way that isn't totally washed out, it just refuses to do so when launched on the OLED Deck itself.

Well good to know I'm not alone... and it's just the OLED deck for you too? Other displays working fine?

Found a workaround. Using the nwjs_old version from the properties->betas settings for the game fixes the colors. Performance is a bit worse in this version, but still runs well.

Edit:
I'm now using proton 7.0 per Chris's comment below. Performance is better avoiding nwjs_old.

Same, but also on any HDR display with HDR enabled in the OS.

Thanks, this works for me! Performance seems great- 90fps @ 9W, and none of the weird frame pacing I saw with the Steam version of this game on deck last year.

I just got my Steam Deck OLED. Same problem of having the colors super saturated. The developers just said they're moving their attention to their new game. Hopefully they'll come back and fix this issue.

Like someone mentioned in another post, using the nwjs_old beta branch fixes that problem. Though it's not exactly clear what other issues, if any, doing that might cause.

Had this issue on my OLED Deck, fixed it by using Photon 7.0 in Steam Game Settings.

Add these launch parameters to the game:

DXVK_HDR=0 %command%

Now you can use the latest stable Proton version and the most recent version of CrossCode, and the colors will look wonderful.

An alternative to this is running the native Linux version, which will use your Windows saves. Reports suggest that you can't unlock achievements with this version, but you can simply switch back to the Windows version, boot up your save, and any previously-unlocked achievement in-game will then be unlocked on Steam.

Remember to always check ProtonDB if you're having issues with a game on the Deck. If it isn't too obscure, there's bound to be a handful of reports with (hopefully) helpful tips. Here's CC's ProtonDB page: https://www.protondb.com/app/368340

You can't unlock achievements BY DEFAULT, due to one of the libraries the game uses for the Steam API being outdated and broken on Linux. There's a pretty simple fix for this though; after that, there's really no reason to use Proton with the game.

Details on the fix can be found here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/CrossCode#Broken_achievements_on_native_Linux_build

I never suggested it wasn't as such by default or otherwise, just that people have reported that achievements don't unlock on the Linux version, but that you can swap for them to unlock on Steam.

Still, this is the kind of thing that should be on ProtonDB.

?? I'm just pointing out that a fix is available for the Linux version. Hopefully this'll be fixed properly sometime though, it'd be best for everyone to just have it available by default.
