Anyone knows how to download previous NW.js versions?
So, that seems to be the last thing I have to try out. I tried running the game on the regular and beta branches but both have the framerate issues many of us have been facing (a minority but it's a lot of people regardless). However, I have no idea how I'm supposed to go about downloading an earlier build of this... thing. For reference, these are the pages where previous builds can be found:

https://dl.nwjs.io/

https://github.com/nwjs/nw.js/wiki/Downloads-of-old-versions

On the first link, not only can I not save any of the files to my computer, but they don't seem to match the files and folders we're supposed to copy over to the game folder.

On the GitHub page, the latest old version available dates back from 2015 while this thing had plenty of updates past that date.

So I'm at a loss. I already tried everything I knew and that I could to improve this game's performance and I don't see how it can be a problem with my computer when I far exceed the recommended requirements. To avoid a meaningless back and forth, here's what I tried:

- Lower pixel count
- Lower screen size
- Tweaking various options on NVIDIA control panel (including forcing the game to use the NVIDIA GPU)
- Tweaking the executable's property's, including diabling high DPI, disabling fullscreen optimization, running as admin, and even running in compatibility mode

If anyone managed to fix the performance by reverting to an older NW.js version, did you have any luck? Would you remember which version you used? Has anyone else found another way to make this game run as well as it's supposed to?

Just ask the DEVs to give you the previous version

The dev said we should try previous versions ourselves:

Hey man. I've seen you in quite a few threads regarding performance. Could you post a new thread/reply if you find a fix? I've done my searching and have given up for now, just want to make sure I don't miss anything.

No problem. I'll also see if it's worth it to make a guide in case there is a solution, cuz apparently, we need one...

When you reach https://dl.nwjs.io/ you need to choose any version of NW.js then download the compressed file corresponding to your OS:

When you got it you just have to extract it into your game folder replacing any duplicate and then use "nw.exe" (on windows) to launch the game. You can rename it into "crosscode.exe" to run it through steam.

Wouldn't downloading previous nw.js versions make the game run worse, though? They recommend the newer version on the beta branch because it runs faster than the older version in the main branch.

Btw, how many FPS do you get in average out of combat/in towns? Maybe you are trying to improve fps further than it's possible. I mean, we're talking about Javascript here. So getting a fixed 60 fps is straight up impossible.

Don't bother, the developers straight up responded to my thread saying it's not a problem for them because its a minority.

They dont care. Its sad.

Thanks! Unfortunately, that didn't do it. The game still runs badly even after using an older version of this thing.

It shouldn't be impossible because the game is locked at 60 FPS by default. Furthermore, it used to run perfectly fine in early access. If there were any drops, they weren't noticeable enough to warrant as many complaints as there have been lately.

For me personally, it can drop anywhere between 55 and 45 depending on how the game is feeling. For other people, they can't even play properly because they have this problem during combat.

Yeah... If their final stance is "there's nothing we can do," even after I offered to help them identify the problem by sending diagnostics logs, then I'll try and refund. I know I bought the game a long time ago and I played it for quite some hours but if I can't play it now, if the problem isn't my computer, and if the developers won't do anything, I don't see how I should be forced to suck it up when I didn't even finish the game. I haven't played a whole lot since 1.0 came out cuz of this issue. I don't see how that's any fair.

I do hope the developers care to do something, though. They cared to do something about those crashes, which didn't affect everyone (I never had one, not a single one, so I bet other people didn't either), so I don't see why their response to this right now "there isn't much we can do." I expected a lot more from them considering how the development of this game went, so I'm very disappointed that one of my favorite games is being treated like this now.

Yeah, I just read that response... I hope it was just poorly phrased.

Fingers crossed here. If that was their ultimate intention, everyone having problems should try and refudn the game en masse, no matter for how long you had it. Steam has a refund option that fits like a glove into situations such as this: game doesn't run properly when it was supposed to and the developers won't do anything about it. One refund could result in a rejection and worse, but a considerable number of them could have a different result, hopefully.

I have prerelise version of the game, 0.9.7, I think. Can download, if you want

I don't wanna play a pre-release build. I wanna play a post-release build. What's the point of owning the game if the only version I can play isn't the complete one?
