Controller Companion

Controller Companion

D-pad question....
I notice there are some controller companion profile's for Final Fantasy 7. I recently started playing it and was wondering if those profiles get the d-pad on your controller to work with the game? The default controller support for final fantasy 7 does not recognize the d-pad on a controller. In fact, people have mentioned this on there...

UPDATED: which workshop build is the best one to use with final fantasy 7? Until i know, i will use keyboard since i used it in the past. There are 4 different builds for it in the workshop..decisions..decisions..

i actually gave up on this sort of. because the game always detects the controller your best bet is to just make your own profile for ff7en and bind everything to do nothing EXCEPT the d-pad mapped to arrow keys. then re-map the buttons to what they should be in the ff7 launcher.
switch is x button,
assist is what "select" should be,
start is start,
pg down is lb,
page up is lb,
ok is b,
cancel is a,
menu is y,
and switch should be left thumb press (although you could go and map it in cc to rt since it used to be mapped to r2 in the ps1 era i just didn't do that)
same goes for camera mapped to lt or the other thumb press in my case

if you don't remember them by heart google the manual they should be in there. you can also google what numbers correspond to what button on your controller (i definitely don't know those by heart and had to google) This was driving me nuts but it's the best i came up with, unless you know of something better/easier and in that case i'd like to know what you know.

edit: so from what i see as the best play xp for me at least is: in the launcher map everything to it's original mapping from ps1 except for dpad and l2 and r2 (you can't from the launcher) but in cc map dpad to wasd, and triggers to ok and cancel.

i just leave whatever used to be on L and R 2 as thumbstick presses.

been using t stick to navigate long and straight walking sections, and dpad to do more precise movement and menu navs.

triggers for general talking and buttons for input in battle.

there was an annoying thing where B button on my controller would input as start when entering a character name, so when i would delete a letter under default binds it would zoom to the right where you can click "select" to finalize the name, and after rebinding B to input as confirm the same thing happened. So in the latter case after every letter input it would zip over to the right side of the screen over "select" and in the former after every letter deletion. doesn't come up that often so i'm not gonna investigate it too much further since for now i'm 99% happy with how it ended up
