Controller Companion

dual input
hello, can anyone help me. the game im playing already has controller support but i want to use my controller for movement and mouse for aiming, the problem is the interact action in game also logs in a second character for co-op and im getting an input for both xinput and controller companion input at the same controller, is there a toggle that can block xinput in my controller so i wont accidentally have 2 characters on screen.

I do not think there is at these time, but maybe you can reconfig the buttons inside the game to none, or something for controller so it will not active anything?
Blade Dec 5, 2016 @ 5:41pm
unfortunately yes and no. i cant exit button layout sreen unless i allocate a button for all actions but i can configure it into a different button that i would not accidentally press like R3 while i use the mouse for aiming.

it depends on the game.. there is no fixed answer to all the games out there..

some games will ignore CC completely and responds to controller movement regardless the settings on CC.. and interpret it as 2 players instead of one..
some will not allow both the controller and mouse&keyboard inputs at the same time..

however,
if you enable the CC on during a game (by pressing select and start for few seconds) AFTER you have changed the movement of the left joystick of the controller to ASDW keyboard input while using the mouse with your right hand.. it is possible..

some games are more forgiving like Overwatch which allows BOTH controller and keyboard&mouse (the way you described it)..

to activate CC during the game press Select and Start; and hold them for few seconds..
unfortunately, again and again, it all depends on the games you choose to play with..
and to be honest most shooting games (FPS or 3rd person) is better controlled with keyboard and mouse.. i find it difficult to juggle between the controller and mouse..

i kinda find this arrangement.. unnecessary..
`

PS.. i hope you already know that you can create a profile on CC for that particular game.. so when you run the game, the left joystick would switch to ASDW input, but returns to normal mouse movement after exiting the game.. it's in the CC settings, at the 'Profile' tab and press the '+' (of which adding a process must be done after or during running the game)

Yes i already have a profile of the game and i edited it accordingly. my computer is plugged to the livingroom tv and its too much space and wires to bring a keyboard and mouse together on the livingroom table, i still want to aim/fire with the wired mouse on my right hand at my lap and a wireless controller in my left hand to controll the movement and buttons. also moving an analog stick with your thumb is less tiring than ASDW on a keyboard after hours sitting on a couch.

Im also trying to get my PS Navigation Controller to work with the x360ce program that Controller Companion provided as its perfect for 1 handed use compared to the Logitech F310 that im currently using. unfortunately the program only recognizes the controller but is not detecting any input. if you have seen the PS Navigation Controller you will see why i want touse it with a mouse for aim/fire. they are perfect together for couch gaming.

you should have mentioned PS Navigation Controller from the BEGINNING!! suddenly it made some sense to your setup..

i do own the regular Dual shock 3 PS3 controller but i do not own the Navigation Controller..

so quick questions.. because you are not making it easy for us to understand..
can you play games with the Navigation Controller?.. do PC games respond to your navigation controller?.. does it work with CC at all?!.. are you using cable or bluetooth?.. what windows are you using?..

forget the Logitech controller for a second..
Logitech is a known computer periphery maker; and they make keyboards, mice, webcams and other computer stuff.. their entire business centers around their products running on computers and on Windows..
Sony on the other hand, they have never intended to have their PlayStation products to work along with their biggest compatitors.. Microsoft and PC gaming in general..

you cannot put Sony and Logitech controllers in the same basket.. it does not work that way..

most people with REGULAR PS3 controllers (the 6axis and the DualShock) are trying to figure out how to get their controllers to work on PC.. the Navigation Controller suffer the same problems with those controllers, if not worse..

Thank you for replying, i use windows 10 home as for the Navigation Controller i am getting no input from it at all and i have it wired as i dont have a bluetooth dongle. and there is no input from the controller even when i go to Control Panel/Devices and Printers to try to calibrate it. the computer recognises that its there it even downloaded a driver the first time i plugged it in and its in the list of devices its just not getting and input from the buttons and analog stick.

ok.. what i understand is.. you do not have control over the cc and over your games, using the PS controller.. (let us forget about the Logitech controller here)..

this is a common problem among people who are trying to connect their PS controller to their PC.. and the answer is unfortunately not easy..
because again, Sony has never put a support for their PS controllers to work on PC.. unlike Xbox controllers that are very much supported by Windows and by Microsoft..

what we have are third party developers, who developed different 'emulators' that mimic the signals of an xbox controller..

unfortunately, those emulators are a hit and a miss to most of us with PS controllers..
and Bluetooth only complicates the matter.. only few managed to get the PS controller on Bluetooth, and most of the time it lags and drops signal in mid-game..

in high-speed high-performance games, stick with the USB wire..

let's start with the basics.. download and install the following:
- connect the PS controller (navigation, 6 axis or DualShock) to the PC using USB cable.. this will install the initial drivers for the PS controller.. and leave the controller connected all the time..
- download and install the latest Xbox 360 PC driver, .NET Framework 4.0, and Visual C++, BEFORE you install an emulator.. (you may have to uninstall any PS controller amulator that you have installed in the past, like xBox360ce)

- you can find the the latest Xbox 360 PC driver at https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/products/gaming/xbox-360-controller-for-windows/52a-00004 .. and no i am not trying to get you to buy the xBox controller..

you have to scroll down and click on 'Downloads'.. this will lead you to 'Software&Drivers' section.. and choose Windows 7 with either 32bit or 64bit.. don't worry, Windows 10 is basically an improvement of Windows 7, and most desktop applications works on Windows 10 if it already work on Windows 7.. the only question here, is whether your system is a 32bit or a 64 bit system..
if you do not know what system that you are on.. 32 or 64bit.. click on the Start and type or search for 'System information'.. click on the app with that name.. and look at the System Type.. if it says 'x64' then you have a 64bit system.. but if it says 'x86' and not x64, then you have a 32 bit system..

select the OS and the system type accordingly.. then select the preferred language.. and then click on Xbox 360 Accessories Software 1.2 link to download the file..

and install Xbox 360 Accessories Software 1.2 by double clicking the file..

- download the latest .Net Framework at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851 .. run it and install it..
- also download the latest Visual C++ at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 .. also run it and install it..

Xbox 360 PC driver, .NET Framework 4.0, and Visual C++ are all necessary to get the xBox controller to work on your computer.. in Windows 10, it is usually installed and updated automatically when you connect an xBox controller to the PC.. but with PS controllers, you may have to do it manually..

if you followed all the steps above.. then congratulations, you can plug in any xBox controller and it should work..

but we are trying to connect a PS controller.. and if you plugged-in the PS controller.. yes you will have a signal in the device manager.. yes the drivers of PS controller will be installed.. but that will NOT make your PS controller work..

next you need to install an amulator that basically translate PS controller signals into xBox signals.. the PC will think that it is connected to xBox controller when it is not..

unfortunately, each emulator works in a specific hardware configuration and fail on other configuration.. i.e. it is a hit and miss with these emulators.. and you have to test them one by one until you find the right emulator for your system..
even worse,
whenever you install an emulator dor the PS control.. the emulator modify and changes the settings of the above drivers: Xbox 360 PC driver, .NET Framework 4.0, and Visual C++..

so if you try one PS controller amulator, and that particular emulator does not work, you have to uninstall the emulator, and then re-install all the above (Xbox 360 PC driver, .NET Framework 4.0, and Visual C++) before you try a different emulator..

and it is always advisable to restart the computer when you install or re-install those components..

- select the emulator that works..
and again not all PS controller emulators will work with your system.. and many users will swear that this emulator work on his/her computer and that one doesn't.. it depends on the hardware configuration.. and the mood of your computer..

for example.. on my computer, the PS controller does NOT work with xBox360ce (the 'e' stands for emulator).. but it works on SCP driver..

if those emulators fail on your system, you can try Motioninjoy and ScpToolkit (XInput Wrapper aka ScpServer Reloaded)..
just remember (because this is important), uninstall the previous emulator and re-install the drivers before moving on and trying on the next emulator..

luckily,
there are a number of people share their experience with those emulators online and in youtube videos..

if you can get some movements or some response on your games and on the CC with your controller.. that's good.. next you can reassign the controller buttons to the desired actions as mentioned in the above comments..

again, Bluetooth is a big variable..
a good number of people managed to get their PS controllers to work on PC.. but only few managed to connect it to bluetooth.. just make sure you get the best bluetooth dongle from known brands, and not one of those cheap knock-offs..

good luck and all the best..

Would you mind sharing how you were able to get the Navigation Controller working on PC? I'm also interested in trying that same solution.

On a separate note, how do your charge that controller? I've owned two since 2011, but never used them until now. Their red LEDs blink when charging using any method (Sony's official charging station, third-party dock, connected to the PC via USB), but I can't get them to turn on after unplugging. Not sure what's going on.

EeK Navigation Controller works with a Mayflash USB adapter, the analog stick is the left and all the buttons work fine, the trick works best in games that accept multiple control inputs from different devices. The charging station works, the controller shuts off if it does not detect a device when turned on. it works great with a mouse, sometimes I have my navigation controller working with a Wii remote as mouse for true wireless PC gaming, unfortunately i still don't know how to calibrate the Wii remote for PC so the mouse cursor is 6" under what Im pointing.

Thanks for replying!

I think that the batteries in my NavCons are dead. I tested them on the PS4, and I can navigate the dash while they're connected via USB, but stop working as soon as I unplug the cable. Sucks, since I literally have never used them before. :(

Aside from the Bluetooth receiver, did you install any drivers/software on your PC in order to recognize the NavCons wirelessly?
Blade Aug 12, 2019 @ 5:09pm
For some reason all drivers I've tried will see the Navigation controller but ignore button inputs, the Mayflash USB was my last resort and it works well, my only problem is that most multiplayer games think the Navigation Controller is player 1, and the mouse as player 2 because developers don't take multiple controllers for disabilities into account when programming games.
