Story Summary?

I beat this game over a few months, but since it was so far apart I have no idea what is going on in the story. Can anyone summaries what the game is about and the ending as simple as possible?

Spoilers don't really matter if i have no idea whats going on in the first place anyway. I just want to understand so I can enjoy it more.

here is a summary, your character is a creature known as a vessel, the vessels were created from the void by the now dead(?) ruler of hallownest. the vessels jobs were to contain the infection to prevent it from spreading and destroying the kingdom, and even the whole world. many of the vessels that were sent out never completed their mission, except one. This vessel, named the hollow knight, succesfully contained the infection in its body. alas it was to late, the kingdom was basically dead and only those with strong wills were able to resist the infection. so you the player, end up venturing through the kingdom to eventually contain (or destroy) the infection. pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥, i know, but its the best i have right now, haven't played in a while.

The Old Light:

There was upon a time a lands called "Hallownest" all kind of insects lived there and all workship a god, "The Radiance". A gigant moth that lived in the Dreamland.



The Dead of the Last Wyrm:


In Hallownest there was a specie called "The Wyrms" they were the most powerful specie on Hallownest but one day, the Last Wyrm died. But like Bardoon Say "What is the dead for a ancient being, more trasformation methinks." so the last Wyrm become on "The Pale King" he lose his power but keep his intteligence and he conviced all the bugs on Hallownest to form an empire, all the bugs agreeded except "The Hive" and "The Spider's Village". Slowly The Radiance was forgotten



The Void:

One day the Pale King find out "The Abyss" and there was a black substance, the king was curius about it and after some experiments he discorered that the substance can create life. He started to use it in the Guards of his palace, in security (Like those void gates) and to create life (Like the Collector).



The Return of Radiance:

Hallownest became a great empire with the Pale King but Radiance didn't wanted to be forgotten, so she strike again with an infection. The bugs on Hallownest started to have dreams with a Gigant Moth and after some time they started to became agressive. The king after seen that started to think in a way to stop the infection



The Vessel:

The king decided to use the void to create a vessel to contain all the infection in a single create, and after hundreds of tries he found a prefect vessel The Hollow Knight. (In the Abyss we can see all the failed tries of the king to create that vessel. But the vessel was unproteted from the infected bugs and from The Radience.


The Three Seals:

The king decide to make a sacrifice for protect the vessel, so he searched the mot powerful bugs on the kigdom to sleep forever and seal the Black Egg (The place where the Hollow Knight is contained)

Monomon the Teacher. Knowing that her sacrifice was necessary to preserve the kingdom she decided to accept the role of seal and sleep forever.

Lurien the Watcher. Higly loyal to the king and the Kingdom he accepted the request of the king without resistace and he sleeped forever.

Herrah the Beast. With this one was hard to convince, the Spider's Village didn't accept the Pale King as ruler. But Herrah accepted... just with one condition... A Daughter.
The king made her a Daughter made of void and after meet her Herrah sleeped forever. The name of the daughter was "Hornet"


And after the sacrifice of the three bugs Hallownest went back to the normality. Or at leats thats what the king thought.



The Breach:


After all the "Pure Vessel" wasn't "Pure" so the infection started to filter and the bugs started to became again. The king desesperated tried to do something but for some reason the White Palace and the Pale King just disappered. (Probably Radiance make them dissapear like she made with Seer when we reach 2400 of essence)



Your Mission:


You are one of the "failed" vessels, that escaped from the Abyss and your mission is slay the seals, kill the Hollow Knight and contain the infection just for keep the Kingdom normal for like 3 years (Like Dark Souls) or with Hornet's help enter in the Dreamland from The Hollow Knight and with the sibblings slay The Radiance and end the infection forever.

Well nope, you are NOT a failed vessel, YOU ARE ACTUALLY PURE.

As the white lady says referring to the hollow knight;

"It was tarnished by an idea instilled, but you, you are free from such blemishes, you could contain that thing..."

That means that you are pure and you can contain radiance FOREVER, not just for 3 years or so.
