It can be frustrating to lose to the same moth thingy over and over, so take some tips (huh, don't take this comment as the Bible, I haven't 112%-ed the game but I'm over 110%, did all bosses in radiant and completed PoH with all bindings, so mabye I can help...
-Dodges
If you don't have shadow cloack, the fight might be harder that normal, but not impossible, when the Radiance cast 179171 spells at the same time, just Desolate Dive at the right time and try sparing a bit of soul for the Desolate Dive at the right time
-Attacking methods
I highly recommend going Abyss Sheik (I don't know if the name is right, I suck at English) for the first phase, then in the second phase try going nail/shade soul (again I suck at English) and in the final phase, welp, only go with the nail, not like spells are gonna do anything
-Charms build
For Radiance I used:
Void Heart, Spell Twister, Shaman Stone, Fragile/Unbreakable Strength
I don't know if you can insert more charms, i had space only for this charms, but if you have spare notches try using Grubberfly Elegy, Thorns of Agony, Defender Crest, Dream Wielder (huh I suck at English)
Also Soul assorbing charms like Soul Eater/Catcher are really good for the fight
-Final Greetings
Oh dude, I SUCK at English, so if I writed strange stuff that doesn't make sense is because I suck, now, Hollow Knight is full of hard bosses and I recommend not to give up and use cheats, I know it could be frustrating getting stuck at a boss for MONTHS but, oh boy, this game is surely a lot of fun!
I know you defeated the radiance, but this tips can also be applied to Absolute Radiance so yeah.
Let me know if this is being useful, or else I waster 15 minutes of my time
-frafax, a guy that suck at english
Edit: If you want help with some other bosses, let me know
Edit 2: (Useless joke) Radiance is not a nightmare, Grimm is
Radiance is the goddess of Dreams
Yes it was, wanted to record it to learn my mistakes but managed to beat it first try. I thought it was going to be as hard as grimm nightmare
Im glad to read that! Now time to go to the godseeker place, right? Lol
I still think you should try the secret area I mentioned in Godhome, for a laugh and for the first-hand experience. I was spoiled on it too but it was still fun to do and I don't know if I'd have ever found it on my own anyway.
Great job, and smart of you to record it! You can still use this video to improve on dodging her attacks and I'm sure you can learn do this fight hitless (or near-hitless) without too much trouble (especially if you start incorporating spells). I can see you've got some platforming skill with the consistent pogos and it served you well here.
Thanks for the tips and the encouragement! Quite sure I'll try to improve, wanna do that 112% I have just three pantheons left
i'm not trying to brag here, but i found that the radiance was actually far from being the hardest fight in the game, so much of the stuff in godhome is a lot harder, with the ascendent/radiant difficulty level, the bindings, the absolute radiance trial...crazy stuff that requires a ton of practice.
*edit*
WARNING: Possible spoilers 2 posts down for those who haven't done Godhome DLC content.
-watcher knights and hollow knight first playthrough
-the trial of the fool
-great nailsage sly
-that godhome trial with pure vessel. With pure vessel and sly, i'm including the battles in that room where you can fight the bosses individually, once i reached a comfort level with those particular bosses, i was able to defeat the godhome trial in a couple tries.
i've tried the absolute radiance trial in the godhome a few times, the furthest i got were oro and matteo, in part this has to do with the fact that in this one i'm using a pure combat charm build [without any of the health upgrades such as hiveblood, etc.]
the hiveblood charm actually makes a lot of really tough bosses easier, i think with the radiance i used a combination of the hive blood charm, quick focus, grub song, and unbreakable strength to get the win. It's all so player and experienced based. Keep messing around with the charms every time you die.
There are a lot of ways you can win against bosses consistently, but I wouldn't suggest relying heavily on healing as one of them for the long-term. Frequent healing gets you through the game the first time and it's expected when you're just learning the boss patterns at first, but for Godhome not to be maddening, it really helps to learn each fight. Most of the fights are very fair, so once you've learned them you just know what to do every time.
The fight you mentioned being stuck on should be really easy by the time you do PoH. If you're rusty from doing the other pantheons though, there's always the Hall of Gods. Also, going for bindings on the first four pantheons can help a lot not only because of the reward from it but because of the practice from redoing the earlier pantheons.
