I don't know anything about cheats for this game though. So this is probably not the answer you're looking for.
I don't recommend cheating it because it's much less rewarding. But if you need it, I'm sure there are plenty of cheat engines that can make you invincible.
I would maybe change the reward though. Since you need four shards for a mask, having one shard locked behind that quest means three of your other rewards won't be useful until you do it, which probably really bothers people who can't. The problem is that most other rewards would just be... better. Like, a notch would be more standalone for example, but it would definitely be better than even a whole a mask. Maybe you could make it something more optional, like a charm? Dreamshield would kindof make sense given it's current location and flower-like appearance, but I guess that would mean you wouldn't be able to use it for the quest itself. Not that going through fog canyon with a dreamshield would be a good idea.
Also, starting the quest should have the effect of sitting down at a bench honestly. Killing everything in advance is a dumb exploit.
You are not wrong but after doing the quest myself today (regularely) I have to say even without clearing the path before it's not really difficult. The only reason I had to retry once was because I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the thorns right before the grave due to the charm that increases dash distance slightly.
You find like 3-4 enemies in total that are highly aggressive. Except for the mantis they are all easily dodgeable so you really just have to kill that one with the projectile and kill the other few without rushing into them.
edit: Actually I forgot about the "thorn shooters". Brings the number up to 6 or 7. Just clear them out with the projectile as well.
I would recommend setting up a Dream Gate by the Grey Mourner, so that in case you fail you won't have to backtrack on foot to try again.
If you want, you could even do the route backwards first, clearing out all enemies on the way. Only a couple of them will respawn if you don't rest at a bench.
There is no reason to go fast. Take your time and play carefully, and you won't end up making dumb mistakes. Haste makes waste.
I think I only failed once, and in total it took me about 15 minutes to do the quest.
It isn't that I consider the platforming challenge *hard*, it's that I consider it *tedious and insulting*. Which I suppose is partly because it's hard, but The Radiance was hard too and I enjoyed that enough to keep trying.
And there is every reason to go fast, I spend more than 12 hours a weekday between commuting and work so I do not have time with my laptop to take things slowly. Honestly I'm actually pretty satisfied that I miss nothing of value by cutting this POS quest out.
