Markoth is fair and balanced.

I just beat radiant PV and still can't safely beat Markoth in P5, let alone radiant form.

I had some problems with Markoth- Zote combo in PoH and I put some effotrs at mastering those. I can suggest the following strategy:

Go strength - quick slash - shaman stone - heart charm build.

On Markoth first phase play passively and dodge his nails, dont chase him and only hit him when it's a clear safe hit. When he does his spinny thing jump on top of him (shadow-dash through his shield) and pogo on him doing as much damage as you can.

COUNT YOUR HITS. He needs 12 hits to start his second phase. Do 11 hits and no more than wait for him to put himself at a bad position that allow you to do him a lot of damage while his shield is spinning. You can even damage yourself on a purpose for the sake of dealing to him more damage.

Now his second phase starts but if you did things right he must be at very low hp now. With shaman stone he needs 2, maximum 3 shade souls to go down. So just nuke him down before he even starts summoning his nails. You can beat him that way taking few damage and you gonna save some soul to heal before Zote to be comfortable against him.

P.S. don't pogo on his head always. It's a speedrunner tactics, and it requires insane reflexes and concentration.

P.P.S. This is a strategy against PoH Markoth. Ascended and Radiant ones have more hp and won't go down to spells that easily. It could help beating them anyway I guess.

He's a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and random boss, but I don't think it's realistic to say his unbound P5 version is harder than a Radiant PV. Are you using Mark of Pride and Shaman Stone? I found those help a lot, and got him fairly easily at Radiant difficulty with those. (and Longnail and Spell Twister, but I don't think those are necessary at Ascended difficulty)

I used Scrubs Elegy, Shaman's Stone, Spell Twister and Quick Slash. I beat him on radiance difficulty with this set.

I have beaten him several times in P5 (I have already unlocked AR as you can see), but it's such a struggle. I can't do it consistently, I manly just face tank and pogo him as fast as possible. After him there is Zote, which is really hard on low health. It's not harder than PV in P5, but I find him harder than PV in radiant mode.

I usually go for default nail build, which is quick slask, fragile strength, mark of pride and long nail (sometimes I go with grimmchild for slightly faster damage).

My main issue with Markoth is not that he is too hard (which he is), but that his fight is really annoying and boring. 2 stages with 2 types of constant attacks gets boring really fast, especially if you hate his fight. I just wish the difficulty increase he got was more creative, like giving him new attacks or something.

Use nail arts. Suddenly his shields mean nothing. Only move when you have to, after his nail's targeting has been locked in. The fight isn't all that hard if you just use nail arts.

That's actually a good tip. I'm not a fan of nail arts, specially when a lot of jumping is required, since holding X while pressing A is kinda fuzzy on the controller... But I'll give it a shot. It helped in coloseum of the fools, so why not?

As much as I like nail arts, I found them awkward in this fight since there's not enough space to use Dash Slash unless he's doing his spinning attack, and Great Slash causes you to stop for a moment, which is awkward with him moving around and there being no ground to land on.

Pogoing, I think, is fine for two or three hits. It keeps you in the air and recharges your dash and wings, so you can make an easy escape when you have to. If you do it for more than three hits, his shield will have rotated towards you, which can mess you up.

In regards to PoH, I used Quick Focus, Mark of Pride, Nailmaster's Glory, Soul Catcher, Grubsong, Sprintmaster. Stay patient and deal damage whenever you can and unleash your full power with Abyss Shriek against them.

Just make sure you do well with Soul Tyrant before the fight and Zote after the fight.

When I got the PV and AR, I switched Mark of Pride and Nailmaster's Glory with Long Nail and Unbreakable Heart. It really helps with AR.

You do not need to do any bosses on Hall of Gods, they are optional unless you really want that one statue...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm honestly not very interested in Hall of Gods, I just like to practice there every now and then. I wasn't really trying to get all bosses beaten in Radiant, but every time I felt I could do one of them, I just went there and gave it 5-10 tries at most. I never really have the patience to try markoth more than 3 times, TBH.

Your strategy worked with PoH and Radiant Markoth for me. Thanks a bunch, P5 just became 100% meat for me now... sort of. AR is still a few hours of training away.

EDIT: I meant ascended, not radiant. Sorry

Congrats! If you can deal with Ascended/Radiant Markoth, the AR isn't far off.

I think you posted the wrong screenshot by the way; Radiant Markoth's not on that one yet. (though Ascended is)

Oh, NVM. I meant ascended, not radiant lol. I'm happy enough with ascended version of him, just wanted to practice for P5 :) he became a lot easier now.
