Also, I'm not sure I'd call getting the best ending "NOT OPTIONAL." Of course it's optional -- the game can still be beat without it.
That said, I've noticed that most people who complain about the White Palace just haven't learned to nail-bounce off things. Nail-bouncing turns every spike and blade into a mobility advantage.
But even if you do find it very difficult, the game has a "Difficult" tag for a reason.
The ending you get by beating the Radiance boss is no more mandatory than achievements are mandatory for achievement hunters. And those guys absolutely do not see achievements as optinal, either lol. But objectively speaking, the achievements and the other endings are truly optional to the flat goal of beating the game. If you want to unlock more endings, that's really your choice to make. And for what it's worth, there's nothing substantial to the claim that achievement hunters are necessarily better skilled than lore hunters. Some of these lore hunters are even scarier than achievement hunters since their work often extends beyond the game iteslf, whereas achievement hunters' quests are finished once the objectives are completed.
The skips aren't rewlly obvious though, you have to really know where to look.
I understand the frustration, having felt the same way myself. But the whole level pays off when (if) you go for a second run through the game - every other platforming seems really trivial after White Palace.
One piece of advice I could offer (apart from being patient and keep on trying) would be to watch some videos, get a general idea of how you could maneuver over a section, then just go for it.
I'm a casual gamer and old. So, my twitch ability isn't nearly what it use to be.
Yes. You can get the first ending without doing any of this. The other two endings are locked behind that stuff.
