White palace makes me quite the game entirely
I don't care anymore about the new DLC anymore. Hollow Knight is great game but what's the point of even playing when the proper ending is locked behind a skillgate that is almost impossible for an average player to achieve? There's really no point in playing at all. The last piece before the white king is just utterly ridiculous.

Trial of fools - optional.
Nightmare King Grimm - optional.
Path of pain - optional.
White Palace - NOT OPTIONAL.

You don't need ANY of the other "hardcore sections" to properly complete the game BUT you need White Palace. That's just sh!t game design.

It's not bad game design just because you're not good enough to beat it. And regular White Palace isn't even that hard, just a little platforming challenge.

Get hiveblood charm, get infinite attempts at every section.
Epic_Caesura Jul 23, 2018 @ 7:30am
Yeah, with the right charms you have unlimited tries. You literally have to be negligent to die.

Also, I'm not sure I'd call getting the best ending "NOT OPTIONAL." Of course it's optional -- the game can still be beat without it.

That said, I've noticed that most people who complain about the White Palace just haven't learned to nail-bounce off things. Nail-bouncing turns every spike and blade into a mobility advantage.

But even if you do find it very difficult, the game has a "Difficult" tag for a reason.

Bro you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck if you think you need the Noob Rekter aka White Palace to complete the game, just beat the final boss, cant do that? Too bad, sucker, go play kirby adventure, a platformer just for you. :2018salienpsychic:

But you have to do White Palace to get true ending. (I already did it)

It's not meant to be easy, it unlocks the true ending which is also behind a harder final encounter. While it is challenging, it's not impossible, you just need to be patient with the obstacles. Calling it bad game design due to lack of ability is very childish, but I do understand the frustration. Just keep trying until you're good at it, if you want to quit then nobody will stop you.

sorry for being pedantic, but cannonically all endings are true endings. The radiance boss, the charm you get on the way over there, the white palace, it's all just additional content to the game. If you put yourself through the difficult levels, it is purely so you can unlock additional content. But they are all considered equally cannonical according to Team Cherry. Taking down the Radiance boss provides the happiest ending perhaps, but if we're strictly adhering to the lore only, a tragic ending is no less valid and as far as stories go, some stories do flow better when it ends in a question mark than a period. And the question mark was what TC had stated multiple times they aimed to accomplish when it came to the story of this game.

The ending you get by beating the Radiance boss is no more mandatory than achievements are mandatory for achievement hunters. And those guys absolutely do not see achievements as optinal, either lol. But objectively speaking, the achievements and the other endings are truly optional to the flat goal of beating the game. If you want to unlock more endings, that's really your choice to make. And for what it's worth, there's nothing substantial to the claim that achievement hunters are necessarily better skilled than lore hunters. Some of these lore hunters are even scarier than achievement hunters since their work often extends beyond the game iteslf, whereas achievement hunters' quests are finished once the objectives are completed.

Equip mandatory Hiveblood if you suck so much at platforming (and if you want "true" ending but you can't beat White Palace then you won't even get close to beating final boss either) or just look around and think for a second. There are so many skips in White Palace that you can effectively ignore HALF of it.

white palace reminds me of super meat boy, but use hiveblood and get creative, and please be patient, i remember using hiveblood and white palace took me about 45 minutes but i'm not a super hardcore player so it was a bit harder.

The skips aren't rewlly obvious though, you have to really know where to look.

I understand the frustration, having felt the same way myself. But the whole level pays off when (if) you go for a second run through the game - every other platforming seems really trivial after White Palace.

One piece of advice I could offer (apart from being patient and keep on trying) would be to watch some videos, get a general idea of how you could maneuver over a section, then just go for it.

It can be done in less than 6 minutes, bro. I blew through 4 stages in less than an hour.

I'm a casual gamer and old. So, my twitch ability isn't nearly what it use to be.

Slightly off topic, but am I correct in assuming that you do not need either half of the white charm and do not need 2nd hornet fight to get an ending?

Yes. You can get the first ending without doing any of this. The other two endings are locked behind that stuff.

Impossible for the average player? I did it, and I'm about average I think. My kids both did it, though one of them is a wiz at games like Geometry Dash and SMB... at least now he is thanks to beating this section of the game.
