Disable pause menu in battle will change nothing. You can manually backup your save file and paste it back after 'game over'. Also Alt+F4 work well.
Lol what?
Oh so you tried doing it... you cheater... ;)
It's work well right now. Ofcourse you must use that before you died, when you health down to 1 point. Why it's works? Game does not save every second. So Alt+F4 between saves = no new save and start from previous state.
Anyway, as I said, you can manually backup your save file in any place on you computer and restore your progress if you failed for any reason.
Or you could stop complaining and just do it. There are many good Steel Soul speedruns already recorded.
Some players even done " basic Nail only " runs, just for personal challenge... so what's the big deal ?
Just do what... are you actually replying to my comment?
The big deal is that its not truly a challenge and a lot of people will cheat, its just a suggestion to avoid peoplecheating
How much does it really matter? People paid for the game and the game is single player. They can do what they please. If they want they can mod it, if they want they can use a cheat table, if they want they can savescum. It is how they want to play. It isn't like there's any pvp associated with your progress and there definitely isn't any monetary value in achievements.
That doesnt mean the devs can fix this so it is truly a challenge, if other people want to cheat ok, im suggesting a mechanic that would encourage fair play and a true challenge.
If they want infinite lifes theres the normal mode for that.
Also i see the achievements as truly achievements, someone who cheated doesnt deserve it, even if he bought 120 copies of the game.
Also your comment makes me think you have a truly materialist view, so for you achievements only have value if its monetary one. No, they reflect the skills or effort put into a game and someone who earns them cheating just doesnt deserve them.
The big deal in your suggestion - it's a lot of work to did that suggestion fair.
For example, for thing that I say above: forced save every few seconds, like Dark Souls does (if you press Alt+F4 while saving - this is a chance to corrupt save file), and no possibility to manualy managing save files without ingame options (in Ori you can copy-paste your saves right in game menu, in HK - not, only delete).
Any of that two moments means a lot of work to developers, but if don't do that - people still can 'cheating'.
And one more thing: the game isn't perfect. I personaly beat invisible Hollow Knight, because the bug. Also good luck with bugged projectiles that 'freezed' in the air whole fight in Trials of Fool. If that happen - with your suggestion just say 'good bye' to spended hours of play.
So maybe you just grab that 'impossible' Steal Soul achievements without a tons of complaining?
Im not complaining, just suggesting a solution for people obtaining achievements they dont deserve
You think your suggestion make steel soul more challenging, right? But how about things that I say above? Even without pause menu 'in battle' people who want 'safe escape' options still will have that option.
Also how this 'in battle' state will count? Few second after damage taken/deal or some range close to any enemy? In game option to exit in main menu also can do some 'fast travel' function, you know? And around a half of game screens have enemies close together.
Can you understant the fact of total pointless of your suggestion?
It's will not make steel soul more challenging. It's will make 'safe escape' option a less comfortable.
