Losing 1k geo early
So due to a bug, I lost around 1k geo. Problem is, since the majority comes from mining nodes, getting all of that back would take obscenely long. Is it better to just restart the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ run?

If you havent finished the second area yet, probably.

Long term, it honestly is a drop in the bucket. But for a first play through, I could see restarting as a valid option.

How early is early? 1k geo isn't a whole lot, all things considered. Just equip Swarm and play normally, you can make up for it easily. Most of the money you will acquire comes primarily from antiques, too, so I wouldn't worry.

Honestly you get it back fast enough for it not to be an issue like at all, you might be at a disadvantage pretty early but it really isnt a big deal, midway through second area, I glitched out and lost 2.4 K and it SUCKED but i kept going and in the long term it didnt matter at all

Got jammed into a platform while looking for my ghost. Had to reset and the ghost was no longer there. So thanks for that, programmers. Lost 1.3K. Then died in that hellacious worm area deep underground and didn't realize the ghost was up high, so ended up dying in the horde of monsters below again. Lost another 1.4K. I would have so much more fun with this game if they took out that infuriating element (or at least made it so you only lost half), which turns the game into pure stress whenever you're looking for the ghost (and usually lose it, because if the area was hard enough to kill you the first time, getting through it while also fighting a ghost only makes it harder).

I'm sure everyone's fighting about whether this is a good dynamic, but I have enough stress in my life. Video games should be fun, not infuriating. I'd like to enjoy playing Hollow Knight, not stress out about it and hate it.

Above Greenpath's Stag Station there is a place where two Moss Knight are very close to each other. You can kill them really quick with Vengeful Spirit, then rush to the station, reset and repeat ( ~100 Geo per run with Fragile Greed equipped )

You can farm it back in like 10 min.

Also don't forget you can sell relics in City of Tears =)

Then what's the penalty for dying? Nothing? If I had made this game, you'd just lose your money when you died, period. Not even a chance to get it back. If losing a small amount of virtual currency in a game where you can literally farm said currency at your leisure makes you hate it, maybe it's not that the game is 'infuriating' but that you're getting too emotional over it? 1k isn't even a lot.

Please read the testimonies of players who ended the game with 26,000 geo. It doesn't matter in the slightest. You can get those upgrades now or later, they're merely convenience and most unnecessary.

and you can hit the bank if you cant spend it right away. only dive deep into new areas with low geo.

In my opinion, dying and having to retrace your steps back to where you died is punishment enough. Taking away all your geo means you have to farm to get it back - which is boring and repetitive. Not only that, but it makes you more cautious - you tend to avoid dangerous enemies when you're carrying a load of geo, and playing cautiously isn't much fun, either.

Sure, in the long run it doesn't matter. I ended the game with 0 geo because I had nothing left to spend it on so didn't bother going after my ghost. But wer're not talking long-term. In the early game you really want that geo to level up and progress. Losing 1K geo before you have the Gathering Swarm charm, before you have the Fragile Greed charm and before you've found the bank is annoying.

It sounds crazy now (at 80 hours and 99% into the game), but I spent the first 10 hours of Hollow Knight grinding for geo in Forgotten Crossroads. Why? Because I didn't want to travel too far from the shops in case I couldn't survive the trip back. I didn't know where benches or stag stations were and wasn't going to risk venturing out until I had equipped myself as fully as possible. It was boring as heck. I even left a negative review (since deleted) bashing the game for mechanics that suck all the fun out of it.

Later you can always ask Jiji to summon your shade. You can find him in locked cave in Dirthmouth.

If you are short on Rancid Eggs, there is hidden vendor in Royal Waterways

You said yourself playing cautiously wasn't much fun, yet that's the way you chose to play. I ran out and went Conan on every new area I could access, died plenty, but lost very little geo because when I wasn't busy spending it all, I utilized Jiji and benches so I wouldn't ever be multiple zones away from my shade if possible. In the early game, I didn't care much about geo. I bought map stuff, and then I went and explored, looking for movement upgrades. Long term, I care even less about it and wish I would've ditched Gathering Swarm earlier. You get such a huge amount just traveling around the various parts of the map and killing things that get in your way that 1k is inconsequential unless you're speedrunning.

You hear that, Team Cherry?! It's the players' fault if they can't figure out how to play your game. Smh.

You're saying this with sarcasm like it's not 100% true. >_>
