When's it get good?
Five hours in. Got the wall jump and the dash, reached the City of Tears, currently banging my head against this awful spider boss up in Crossroads. So far very unimpressed. Exploring is unrewarding, this dash is AWFUL, combat and movement are super bare-bones both for you and enemies. There hasn't been a single "bam" moment so far that's really grabbed me. No "Wow, what a good idea!" or "This is such a cool enemy/area/boss/ability!" or anything of the sort.
When the hell does this game start?

You didn't like Hornet fight? :o
Also, nothing wrong with movement or dash, it looks good and play tight! You find it awful?

If the game didn't grab you by now, I don't think it ever will, that's pretty much it!
More bosses, more areas, more abilities, etc.. but the core philosophy is the one you've experimented for 5 hours already =)

If you don't like it now you won't like it at all as Damos said.

The City of Tears.

If you don't like the City of Tears, you are not going to like this game, period. For me, I spent 50 hours playing. Best game of the year, hands down. When I got to the City of Tears I was just like "This is incredibly good". The CoT is the central hub of the game.

The dash is analagous to the roll from Dark Souls. You will be using it ALL the time. But there is a crap load of movement tech in the game, much like Ori and the Blind Forest. By the end you are literally flying all over the screen.

But, if you play the game blind, you will spend a lot of time lost, especially from the City of Tears on. If you're complaining about the exploration now, well, the CoT is where the game opens up. It only gets more confusing from here on. If you play blind, as you should, you will be lost much of the time.

The game is VERY non-linear. If you're getting your ass kicked by some "Spider Boss" (I'm guessing you mean the Brooding Mawlek), you should probably just go somewhere else.

Did you know that not everyone has to like the same game? If you bought the game without thinking about it, you shouldn't blame it on the devs.
EXAMPLE: GTA is a loved game. And although i like shooters, i don't like is. Just my opinion. You don't have to like something just as you don't need to throw your hate on it. I highly respect your opinion, and won't come across rude at you but you shouldn't blame your fault of buying a game that you wouldn't like on US and the DEVS.
