Attention all players: BEWARE OF THE SERVER CORRUPTION ISSUE!
Ive lost many pawns on the xbox360 version of this game due to capcom's crappy server's going down and corrupting my characters. I really love this game alot, but that is my main issue with it..the server end. You all better hope they fix this issue, or we are going to see alot of people complaining about corrupted pawns again. BTW, i hope none of you try my pawns i made for the xbox360 version because they were all corrupted, and may corrupt your characters.

THAT's right everyone! If you use a corrupted pawn, it can and WILL corrupt your pawn and MC! EVEN WORSE is that you cannot tell if the other person's pawn got corrupted your partying with. That is the one biggest risk with this game. If any of you played the other versions of this game, you all know what im talking about:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/684235-dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/68245588

It has happened in the past, and im sure it will happen on this version. Even though im really a big fan of this lovely game, this is the other shoe dropping thing for me. It not only corrupts your main pawn, and acts like a virus, spreading it to your friends games (if they load it up with your pawn), but also, corrupts your MC save game!

Just make sure you have backup copy of your game's main save..that is all i can say.

The other solution is not even renting out other's pawns, unless from a trusted friend.

Every now and then I see "Corrupt pawn data omitted" and one of the pawns I called on from the search section never showed up. So I think they may have fixed this issue somewhat.

There were level infinity pawns on the first day or so. Does that mean someone was hacking or could it have been someone beta testing ?
There is a save data transfer tool that came out the day of launch. So you can transfer your save data from ps3/360 to PC with that tool. Of course I don't recommend it since it's very prone to corruption given its a "beta" mod.

how many more do you want me all to post on here to prove my point?

That is not a case of a corrupted pawn corrupting other pawns. His potato crashed while it was saving therefore corrupting the save. This can happen in ANY game while saving.

People just go get DDDA save manager, and if your pawn ever gets corrupted, revert to any point in time before the corruption. Done.

If you happen to have a corrupted save and a clean save. using the Save Editor to compare the saves might help determine what is causing the corruption which can then help you clean the corrupted save in the future.

Thanks for the advice, but i deleted both saves 2 years ago. It is great that people playing this now have tools to help them not get in the same boat i was in. I moved on, but i hope everyone enjoys this game like i did. Also, try to lure death in BBI in a small space..he sucks at aiming in small spaces in the sewers.
i see this issue is still present, and is still happening:

My suggestion is someone sticky on here about the save location so everyone can avoid the issue to begin with. That was the purpose of this post to begin with. It was a warning to new players about it. Until the save issue is fixed on pc (hopefully), i will wait while it is wishlisted. Im watching this game pretty close as i do like it alot..i just don't like the way the save system is on it.

If you have a corrupt save game for the PC Game, please send it to me. In fact, send everything in your Save Game folder. I'd like to test something out if you send me all the files.

Friend me on Steam so we can message each other if you'd rather not share it publicly. (Because I tend to ignore friend invites, post here before sending one)

Sorry, i don't own the game on pc, just on the xbox360 console. Try asking on one of the links on here..
I'm getting 'Failed to save' no matter what, offline or online. Even if I go back to a save file a day, 2 days, three... Is this the corruption?
@brown chimera Maybe some permissions issue? Try to run the game as an administrator.

Edit: btw, always run every game as an administrator. Just to be sure. I always do that.

I bloody love you, it works fine now. I'll stay in offline for a while just in case. I've never had this sort of issue before so I never even thought about running as admin. Thank you.

You are so misinformed about this topic it's not even amusing anymore. The link you shared has absolutely no correlation to pawn corruption, yet you start saying it is and that it spreads like a "virus" (the hell?). For all we know the person had a different issue altogether, but oh no, it's gloom and doom all over again. Do yourself a favor and stop bumping this old thread, please.

I would respect your stance more if you actually bought the game on PC instead of basing your experience on an outdated Xbox version that is no longer relevant. If you actually played the game, you would know the servers are filtering out corrupted pawns data, and that the data corruption thread you linked is of a different nature. Maybe the person quit the game while it was saving, who knows?
Wow what a load of unfounded, factually incorrect, outdated, unproven and scaremongering load of toss.

Game owned .. nope.

Time played on Game.. Nada (shocker)

Number of other stories on these forums about corrupted Pawn virus of Doom .. none that I have seen yet.

Seriously with NO objective evidence that this has happened you are just opening yourself to ridicule. It is bad enough reading some of the total tripe that people who DO own this game come out with but to literally make stuff up about the PC version is risible.

EDIT :

umm NONE, because you just seem to be bumping your own thread by doing a basic search for `corrupted saves` on the Game Forums and posting links that have sod all to do with your point.

Fine you got burned on the XBOX version, sure some people had issues with the PS3 version but you know what that first rule of gaming is? ♥♥♥♥ happens.

Spamming the Forums with links that only have the barest thread of a link to your rant does not `prove` anything other than you cannot defend the ONLY `fact` on your post and that is you don't own the PC version.

Honestly your seeming crusade against the game is getting on my nerves and you seem intent on bumping this thread endlessly and the facts be dammed.

Just do us a Favour and go buy `Akiba Undead and Undressed` from your wishlist already and leave this RPG to the Actual Fans.

First off..pawn corruption = Save corruption. As far as i can tell, it is still effecting the pc version. Second, i am only here to help, not to spread gloom and doom. At least im brave enough to show my profile..how come half you have it private so no one else can see it?

If your gonna talk smack about someone else's topic, at least show your profile(s).. At least Rask and MonkeyEmporer did.

Ugh... I hate the "If your profile is private you don't matter" argument... It's not "brave" to show your profile, just as it's not "cowardly" to want to keep your profile private. It's a preference. Hell, the only reason mine is public at the moment is because I realized that if it isn't, other players in DD can't see my awesome name. :D It's not because I want people to see how many neko games I've played. ;D

Once I stop playing DD though, it'll go private again.
