How on Earth did they get that past the censors?
You can romance anyone in this game. Anyone. Including the children...

How did this not attract media attention and moral outcry?

And journalists, well... they usually get their news from either reddit or twitter and they're not ones to venture into unknown territory. They do their thing once the mob is already raging and the controversy gets them new clicks and more money.

Amen!

Not every country is as PC insane as the USA. In fact, nowhere, outside of Canada and a few European countries are that I know of. First world problems, some people have too much time on their hands and not enough brains.

Because none of the characters are overtly sexualized (unless you count Madeleine), and because there are no sex scenes. The romance is there but it's not very sexual either.

Additionally, the more "unconventional" romances are harder to reach than the romances the game actively pushes you towards like with Madeleine, the princess, and/or Mercedes.

In other words, romance in this game is indeed problematic especially when it comes to children, but the fact that it lacks sexual content and sexualized characters makes it less controversial than other games which do include such content.

This. Remember the time there was a big outrage over a tiny joke (on a tombstone?) in Pillars of Eternity wherein a transphobic jerk died and this somehow was transphobic?

There is zero logic with these people. They're just the completely mindless army who attack any target their E-celeberty is pointing at, nothing more.

You mean the media attention and moral out cry that Mass Effect had when first game was released "Sex with Aliens" all over the TV some times things get a little out of perspective .

It's definitely odd.

If you make a young teen, you can romance nearly any adult and only a few others are safe.

Every romanceable character is at least 18+, including Symone and the Gran Soren innkeep help. The wikis, comics and the characters themselves that say they are underage are mistaken.

i guess it depends on your outlook. its a pawn not human, so it cant be a child. it went through the rating board and you dont agree with its findings. you can complain there.

Probably because most people that get upset by this stuff dont actually enjoy playing video games. As for most "reviewers", I expect most of them dont play more than a few hours before cranking out some ignorant review. I remember seeing a lot of people saying the game was generic and boring with the story, but anyone who's completed the game and actually payed attention would surely know otherwise.

Truthfully, the game wasnt extremely popular. Most people were probably still playing skyrim, and overlooked this game. The romance mechanics are also kind of vague and clunky, and most people didnt even know there was a romance mechanic, only to end up making sweet, sweaty love to the blacksmith because he had the highest affinity and was the last person the player talked to before fighting the dragon. Most people really dont bother with the more farfetched romances like feste or some random kid, so selene was probably as wierd as it got for most.

I'm surprised feminist stuff didn't say (or most likely didn't notice since they didn't play) anything about some of the loading screen quotes, well one of them anyway, about the mirror being the soul of the woman and the sword the soul of the warrior.
