getting one shot by goblins in hardmode

hello, i just ventured out of the first village and i'm getting one shotted by goblins..
even after having changed my equipement a bit and took some levels a simple hit kills me^^

I would like to know if it is supposed to be like that or maybe it is a bug? just to be sure.
getting one shot by simple mobs makes me fear a bit for the rest lol

Don't start in hard mode, take that in new game+

Yeah you should play in normal for first play through.

Yeah, that's what happens in Hard Mode. Double damage my foot, I'm level 11 with over 200 defense and 700+ HP and a thrown TORCH can still one shot me. Honestly the best thing with Hard Mode is to use it with NG+ Mode.

Does turning down the difficulty would work then or would i need to start over?

Though I would want to try a little more at this difficulty as i was getting a lot of gold from them hehe^^

yes, you can turn down the difficulty withou penalty, but you can't go back to hardmode until new game plus or a new game

lol when i first started on hardmode i chase this goblin and while i was about to swing he throw a rock at me which one shot me xD

Ive been 25 lvls as Fighter, and am now 30 as Warrior, and im still finding low lvl enemies that 1 shot me for seemingly no reason.. I am a vet of this game, as i had 3- lvl 200 chars accross 3 accounts on ps3, and i dont get it.. I have my armors/weapons upgraded as i can, and to me, it makes no sense.. Goblins, or even bandits sap 1300hp from me without cause..A single random arrow, or even blow from a bandit fighter, or warrior takes every hp.. When i was fighter, it even happened with shiled up... Something feels off here..

Sounds like you need more Defense. People seem to play Fashions Dogma on Hard and that simply doesn't work until higher levels. I'm close to 40 right now on Hard and the only thing that currently one shots me is a Cyclops and that is only about 1/2 the time when he Slam Sits me.

I like Hard mode very much. The only real danger in that mode that can 1 shot you (at full health) are the bosses (e.g. Ogre grab is brutal, Cyclops butt stomp hurts) but that's the thrill of Hard mode. Combat in Normal just feels like checking off boxes in a list.

I chuckle when the Pawns say "Even a glancing blow is a fatal one." Clearly they're talking about Hard.

Hard mode is meant for NG+.
