No, far from dead, still very active, thou it's taken far longer than I did think it was going to take.
The mod got split into two part the first part was called the codex of war and this part of the mod was complete around Christmas time, I stated work on the second part in January, this part is based upon the darkest dungeons. I wanted to change the game to give you the experience to play the game like you have never played the game before.

This is my road map to complete the mod:-

January/February - I will complete the darkest dungeon characters, with many of the skills from the darkest dungeon game carried over. It was also include a small number of my favorite modded characters that I like to use while playing darkest dungeons, many of them have there own scenarios. It will also include one spoof senario, nothing to do with The Darkest Dungeon, but based on the evil dead 3 movie, you get to play ash from the movie with is chainsaw and boom stick

February - Character equipment, I need to update a lot of equipment for the characters, thou most of the characters are nearly complete, I do need to flesh out the equipment

March - Currently the mod contains over 200 monsters, I need about another 100 to flesh out the darkest dungeon monsters.

March/April - The dungeons, perhaps the most interesting part of the mod, is how the darkest dungeons will work. Once I've got the monsters, I will start making the dungeons, the basic idea will be that you will only be able to enter the dungeons with 4 brothers, just like in the darkest dungeon game. If you complete the top tier dungeon and kill the final boss you will get 1 item that will let 1 brother enter the final dungeon, the more dungeons you complete the more brothers that will be able to enter the final dungeon.

April - Need to work on events and flesh out the mod. Play testing will start around this time and bug fixes
The road map I will try to stick to, but I will need to see if the above time line is possible, so I will say April release at the earliest, but then again it could be more likely later in the year.

One of my favourite games is the darkest dungeon and I've been building theme towns to go in my new mod, I've been working on.

The basic idea is that I'm currently building the town, to be generated at the start of the game, each of them have there own buildings and unique backgrounds, so far I've built a Trade town, Barbarian Town and a town based 200 years before the events in the game darkest dungeon, with many of the backgrounds from that game, you can see how the heroes of the darkest dungeon evolve into the heroes from that game.

My last town to build was going to be a cultist based town, which I should start working on soon.

I can say while I was play testing, in my last campaign, it was rather refreshing to build up a company made up of pure barbarians.

Im curious if you are using mod hooks and if you are whether you can tell me if they still work for the new content release

The basic idea is to make a mod that will be really user friendly and easy to edit, so anybody can tweak the mod to the settings they desire, the final release will contain instructions in how to edit the settings, so using mod hooks will only complicate that process. So currently 99% of the files are in Nut format.

This mod will have a very high load order, so it will still work after a patch, but it will still need to have the update from that patch, placed in the file, but that will be for the new stuff added into the game from the patch.

This method works with all non mod hook mod files:-
A dirty little update trick, works with most smaller mods, that use replacement files, you just need to change the modified date inside the mod to after the date of the patch, the game seems to load the newest files first, if that is inside a mod, it loads that first. I used a program called BulkFileChanger last patch to quickly get this mod working after the last patch and then just edited in the changes from the last patch, about 20 minutes work to update.

Mod hooks itself is working great for me, with no problems, I can load legends mod and I've not had any crashes yet. I did update the root_state.cnut file inside Mod hooks but I'm not really sure that made any difference.

It's based on the arena, it's a endless arena with it's own rewards, I'm trying to game balance the arena at the moment to make it more difficult, more random than the southern arena, my thinking was that if the arena was endless each day, by day 100 you would just use the arena to level up your mercs. So it will be more risky than the southern arena and the gold reward will be less, due to it being endless. I was going to test that

If you can make out in the carnage, you might see 3 of the new backgrounds I'm using to test the arena out with, the abomination, uses a two handed chain weapon to smash down it's targets. The bounty hunter with it's hook attack to bring the enemy nice a close to his one handed axe. The last hero was the man-at-arms, an aged warrior, a really good tank.

Update

I did get a little burned out working on the mod and had a long break, just got back working on the mod, it's only a few weeks away from the final release, so I wanted to post a one of Origins you can play.

My team consist of Goblin Skirmishers, two goblin Jesters (boost resolve), two Goblin Looney (shock troops), one half orc (heavy damage) and a goblin shamen.

Just about winning the battle, but every battle is like a knife edge, one death away from all of them running away, but goblins can dodge most attack. This origin, will really test your skill.

Yes I'm still working on the project, looking at what I've got left to complete:-

6 sets of new monsters, I've complete 2 sets so far and currently working on the 3rd set, it takes me about 1 week to complete set, I will finish the 3rd set this weekend

The mod contain 35 scenarios so far, I have about 5 left to do

I also need to flesh out Background events, this will take about a week.

I also need to tidy some of the old graphics I made, when I first started building the mod.

Last but not least I need to play test the mod, I have been testing the stuff along the way, I would feel happier if I can get to day 300 without a crash before release.

Just a update on the mod:-

Still working on the mod, not far away from the end, it should be finished by the 12th October, could be longer if get any problems.

I will show you what distracted me this week, I've been working on the Battle brothers Beta files, I wanted to bring back some stuff that got lost in time, it's not a complete copy of the old stuff, I did do some edits and the monster were updated with the codex of war weapons etc:

The original Black monolith, I renamed this to the broken monolith, so you can have both legendary locations in the game, the monolith features, zombies instead of skeletons, but you will fight skeleton bowman, it includes zombie dukes from beta, thou not featured in the Broken Monolith I did make a zombie noble, but that's a rare fight in another location.

This is copy of the Orc Fortress battle from Beta, you might notice the orc in red armour, I decided to add the Orc boss into the battle. I just loved the armour to much and probably my personal favourite armour of the entire game, it's a crying shame that the armour was lost to the game.
