Emperor armored guaranteed on kill?

On the black monolith boss, can I just smash his armor down or does that not give me his loot?

I didn't get the emperor armor when I beat the Black Monolith. Others said they got it. Try your luck! Or better yet, back up your save in case it doesn't drop. I'm either going to wait for a patch or retry it later.

Just completed the Black Monolith. Despite getting the event text after beating it, no armor in the inventory. I attacked it normally though.

Going to try again from a previous save.

If you saved your blessed water, that does hp damage to undead without damaging armor.

I destroyed it and got it myself. But if the chance isn't 100%, that's a bug to report imo.

I bashed the armor to 0% and got a shiney 0% armor at the end. Which I could use and repair as normally.
