Best ways to raise party morale?
I have stayed away from the taverns as i want to avoid drunkard trait. My party is doing good in terms of morale as we have had a couple of very near disasters turn out with no loses and great loot (Far better than the items i had bought.)
The reason i ask is i want to keep the morale as high as possible if I ever have a times when some event or battle lays everybody spirits low.
Can the quality of the rations effect morale or other factors?
I have been just buying grain and bread but have had some great luck with cash and loot and will buy more expensive provisions if they help in any way.

yes.
There is a "plenty of different foodstuff" event that will raise moral.
Also some background have moral raising events, like the monk and the troubadour and I think the juggler.

Hey Baron! There are indeed some events that give Mood boosts (one for food variety also) but those are random and not so frequent. The best way to raise Mood is to buy rounds in Taverns. But I've never gotten the Drunkard Trait for that. It must be quite rare. Another way is to fight (and win) a lot.

There is the minstrels event, which can even be free if you have a nobleman, there is the prostitutes but that one can turn violent, there are several small events that help particular bros, like strength competitions , brawlers fighting each other, brothers with the strong trait, sure footed trait can get good mood.

I was asked by the company early on in this campaign (Most are lvl 4 now) the wanted to knockdown a cow of all things, I said no as i thought it would turn the locals against us, is this the sort of event type you mean?

I use taverns all the time, your recruits won't become drunkards because you buy a round every so often.

If the last round was too close, some of them will get drunk, but not drunkards. Or at least that never happened to me and as i said i use taverns all the time.
It's shorter than it used to be too so it's not so bad, especially if you have reserve units.

Also there are a few traits which might trigger the character to become drunk even if the last round was a long time ago :
- Fragile
- Dumb
- Tiny
- Drunkard (obviously)
- ...

And some traits might make a unit become a drunkard over time through events not related to the tavern (pessimist, superstitious...)

I highly recommend you drop some coins at the tavern sometimes, the confident boost is always welcome and it becomes increasingly difficult to keep a green moral when you manage a bigger roster. Otherwise you'll be stuck at neutral most of the time before fighting, and people will be happy afterwards when you're not fighting anymore.

Many thanks, I will depart to the nearest keep with a holy church to heal after the last battle, it was dam close but we prevailed :)
Once we have been to the church I will buy my men a round of the best, plus i just purchased fresh fruit, cured pork and other better quality food so we can then have a feast :)

Another tip, always enter a town whenever you get close by even if you have no business here, some of your people will get a small boost because they "enjoyed the visit"

When taverns were first introduced, a dev blog mentioned that the likelihood of getting drunk from a round was decreased with increasing hit points (hence the above list of traits, like tiny and fragile, that make characters more likely to get drunk).

Also, the drunk state doesn't last as long as it often did initially, and only has a 50% chance to be followed by a hangover.

So ... give everyone Colossus and then keep buying rounds till everyone's drunk, and then go and win some easy battles against unarmoured widergangers.

Pretty sure this is tied to traits in this case, considering dumb and drunkard aren't related to hitpoints and all my not 2H mercs have 70-75HP but only the dumb one gets drunk sometimes.
Cheers guys, always apreciate the advie given :)
