Banner Saga is leagues ahead in terms of story/music etc. The combat is great too, and TBS2 even offers a survival mode challenge which is great if you just want to go straight combat runthroughs.
BB may not be for everyone. It's got a bit of a learning curve to it and it really thursts you right into the thick of it, and is just missing some polish. If you are a turn based strategy nut though then it has extremely balanced combat dynamics that will keep you hooked.
