Right. That doesnt really answer my other questions. I have gone through this a few times and been on the winning side.
Then, for the progression, every succesful contract helps but a Noble War can drag since you can't be everywhere at the same time. Attacking hostile roaming troops does help the progression as well as attacking trade caravans with noble flags. I have never noticed an impact when attacking random peasants and non-noble caravans but I could be wrong. Longer contracts like the siege and great battle shortens the war considerably.
Then again, this crisis will eventually resolves itself with very little consequences if you decide not to get involved.
Do you have any tips on how to maximize the opportunity? Theres good armor to be had from daggering down knights, but are there certain contracts (like sieges for example) that have additional value despite the time it takes? Are there opportunities for Uniques anywhere?
The war feels like a bit of a drag for me because I don't go exploring random dungeons for uniques out of fear of missing an opportunity to further my house's advancement.
I believe that is correct. Not looking to have a single faction own the map (although having them take all but 2 cities could be cool.) Really just looking to maximize the time spent participating in the war while obviously missing out on taking out random camps.
Talking from my own experience, I have never found a unique from a noble war contract. But, that said, there is still amazing loot to be found and the opportunities of getting noble house helmets. As for the advancement, there really is no rush, thats my take on it. Having better reputation sure helps for contract rewards and prices of goods in towns (and a special event) but said rep can be increased outside of the noble war.
it will make house A and B angry with you but unique is an unique
The main benefit of Noble War is that you will make a lot of Crowns selling the loot you gained from soldiers. You get a good amount of Experience too from battling many of them.
Armies respawn yes, and quite quickly in my opinion. Large cities and forts also have several regiments.
