In most cases I do not even have found enough acceptable recruits to have a full team, not to mention that kind of gear you have.
Or see a leader of any kind.
Yes, I got really lucky enough this campaign, have kill like about 10 leaders, and I will retreat to reset its armor if possible(without too much, marksman)
Although good gear, my man are mostly bad recruit, bad base status and no talent .
I dont think this kind of battle can be won even at day100 you cant beat 10+ bounty hunter after a tough 3 skull fight.
Of course, in such a situation the only thing you can do is give up the head. But it would be nice to see that group approaching on the map from a distance, so you can try to avoid or outrun them.
From a strictly gaming perspective, I'm not seeing how this encounter adds fun or strategic value to Battle Brothers and I'm not sure why it's in there.
Good job on the 3-skull contract. As for the bounty hunters, you're braver than I am to even try, especially right after a taxing battle. I've met them in Early Access and also in full release, usually fairly early on as you describe and have always retreated. As stated by Daft Helmet, you can keep the head by retreating and I find gaining an extra 1-1.5k for the head preferable in exchange for -15 Renown and some Mood loss from retreating.
On whether they are overpowered, yes they are and I agree with Abel that they are very dangerous. I think this is intentional though. The devs did state in loading screen tips: Not all battles can be won (or reliably and safely won).
Would I ever consider fighting them? Yes if I was having a fully levelled party in good health and gear but not under the conditions you describe.
They are interesting in that they show some less-common but reasonably effective builds (watch your heavy armor greatsword guy get pushed around by a nimble medium armor overwhelm guy with either a mace or the light 2-handed sword).
But yeah unless you have a fearsome group I wouldn't tangle with them.
Yes I can give up the head if I know Im going to face 14 of them. But before battle you dont have any scout, I usually encounter 7-10 of before day 40. And I can easily handle them as you can see my team is in a good state, only one bro have injury after a 3 skull contract.
But, but, when they rose from 10 to 14, things changed. It's not 50% harder, it's 10 times harder as 4 more bounty hunter brings 4 more nets and 8 more stack of overwhelm.
You should know it's a 2000C contract, which means 2000c extra reward if I keep the head safe. Imagine what 2000c means at day 26. Not a matter of greed, I shall at least have a try even it would wiped half of my team.
Yes I agree not every battle can be won, so they should at least let us know what Im going to face, not you dont know who attacked you but you have to defend yourself. Then get to know it's opponent you cant win.
It usually is no more than 10, but today it gets 14, that's not50% harder, that's ten times harder.
Yes I can retreat to keep the head safe, but it's the first time I met so powerful an oppoent I wish to test its strength and they turn out to be too OP.
Actually in most case they have dogs, when you enter the battle you will regret.
Whoops, they also gets stronger when my team grows. I once met bounty hunter at day70+, by when I have most of my bro lv11 but not all good background, all good gears, 300armor for front liner. And then I met 30+ of them, they also wiped my team. If they are in large amount, many of them will carry dagger and net, even a most powerful man will die in 6 puncture per round.
So, I guess the mechanic to judge enemy amount is sometimes irrational, especially when it comes to bounty hinters
overwhelm sure is a problem but at least those 4 archers can barely hit during night.
my main problem with them always was huge amount of missed hits becouse of level difference.
like one that fight where i killed 9 out 12 hunters, archers run away and only swordmaster was engaged - i suround him from all sides and still could not lay a single hit and polearms barely scratch him with his nimble. That guy slay four of my bros and rest was scattered with fleeing morale. And it was literally 1 vs 12 fight
The smallest amount I met was 5 at day 13. That's a easy fight although my team is quite bad.
Em.....Can bounty hunter have swordmaster? I guess I havent ever met in my long game time.
