New Arrow Types
Hi all,

For a long while now, I feel that different arrow types have been missing from the game. I think the variance in ranged weapons being limited entirely to the bow/crossbow, and not including the projectiles themselves, is a little bit of a shame.

Not only could the material of projectiles change in quality to alter their effectiveness, but the historical variance in arrow types would be great. For example, look below:

Standard arrows = Decent vs everything, no special effects.
Hunting arrows (Naturally wider arrowhead) = Poor vs armor, effective vs fleshy targets, more damage to hitpoints.
Bodkin arrows (Thin, pointed arrowhead) = Effective vs armor, higher armor penetration, lower base damage to hitpoints.

Please let me know what you all think!

I like the idea but there is a serious balance issue here: anything that boosts bows as anti-armoir weapon indirectly nerfs crossbows. So any buff the arrows give would need to be minuscule, and that kinda defeats the purpose of having different arrows in the first place.

Wouldnt be hard to compensate - simply by adding different bolts too.

The actual balance issue would be that it would give bows/crossbows a pretty damn big buff depending on what kind of bonus the arrows/bolts get.

i like the idea aswell but monokel already hit the nail on the head. maybe add armor damaging arrows without extra penetration. like blunt arrowheads not very effective against flesh but against armor.

It's a good idea but, yes, balance is the problem. Bows are meant to shoot unarmored targets and crossbows as well as throwing weapons armored ones.

Rather than damage, these arrows could add effects like daze or bleeding.

If anything I'd rather want flaming arrows to hunt Schrats. Because enough Schrats holding formation and refusing to budge are pretty much unkillable due to overlapping coverage. And you can't do anything about them beside melee.

The new AP buff was pretty damn needed, but i feel like they are fine now.

Part of me wants to see broadhead or serrated arrows/bolts but considering how crazy high the initiative of ranged enemies can be its probably going to result in a lot more turn 1 deaths than anything else
A way to balance it would be to reduce quivers capacity for special ammos, but with the ia unlimited ammo would make it insane
