Low system specs and this game
I got a rather lovely early Christmas present in the form of a laptop. Originally intended to allow me to work away from home I have noticed it really only lacks a graphics card, which got me thinking maybe some of my less resource-intense games could run on it while I'm visiting the family for Christmas.

I have installed Battle Brothers and played it for a while and everything appeared to be working well, save for one crash. Not a big deal and on occasion I've gotten a similar error on my gaming PC. This time the save could also not be loaded on either system (Ironman save), PC or laptop.

My card is an Intel 630 (lol) and the internet tells me it is less than 200 megabits, Battle Brothers specs saying it needs 512.

I'm wondering if anyone runs this on super low specs and what your experiences are all the while trying not to get the hopes up too much for a successful BB game. It sure would be rough to get emotionally invested in a campaign at this point to have it not pan out.

However... all other excursions into the game on the laptop in question have been fine, BUT brief thus far. I'm a freelancer and don't have much time to test before I leave on the 23rd, but loads of time after.

I also know the developer posts on here occasionally. If you see this: first- thank you, game's awesome. And second: where did the 512 MB requirement come from in the graphics card? Is this a safe estimation, or is there a concrete reason you went with that number?

It's not that I don't like Christmas movies, I've just seen them all before. Right?

Merry Christmas, fellow death dealers.

That is just terrible.
I'm sorry to be a douchbag, but you can't really expect to play games with an integrated pos graphics card. Every game requires some amount of power from it's GPU, it's inevitable.

Your laptop is made for nothing more than word processing and internet browsing, not gaming, not even remotely.
Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

Sorry, but that general statement is not correct.
I run Battle Brothers (and other games) without any problem on my office laptop with an integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 4000).

Integrated graphics have come a long way over the past 5 years. It is now entirely possible to play almost any game on a new intel integrated graphics system.

Haha, I know what's going on here but about 8-10 years ago I played Dragon Age: Origins on an onbard graphics chip with no issue before getting a desktop with some muscle (at the time).

By the way it runs Photoshop CS6 and Krita great :D. Zero issues.

Woah there friend, the internet tells me you also have 128 MB in your graphics card. Glad to hear this.

I tried playing again for another 15 minutes last night before bed and zero issues, so fingers are good and crossed. It's a laptop with a touch screen, so I get some joy out of actually tapping on the guys I'm killing :D.

There's a world of difference between being ABLE to play a game with a poor laptop and EXPECTING to be able to play a game with a poor laptop.

You already have your Christmas present? In what time zone are you living :) ?
I can't really answer but I can say that in the past I've been able to run games that shouldn't have run on my computer had I followed the minimum specifications.

I don't think I was expecting to- I had major doubts and that's what brought me here. To my surprise I've just recently found videos of people playing Battlefield 4 with this thing with an inferior processor to what my new laptop is equipped with and an undetermined amount of RAM. The settings are obviously not great (lower res, too), and his FPS is below 60, but this is pretty insane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6BOMZ_us18

There's a whole series of videos on Youtube of people playing games with this onboard chip, apparently times are a-changing? The video quality is horrible, I imagine that has something to do with recording on such a toaster.

Here's a video of someone testing out 7 games. Crazy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vucm3pJHG58&t=665s

Heh, I'm a freelancer and taking vacation puts a big strain on me. This was a way that my long term girlfriend devised to take that load off me- the thing is mostly equipped to do digital art (I do professional freelance illustration for RPG games) while I'm away from my desktop. This was an early gift :D.

Since I have all of these graphics intensive games lying around I figure I'll see how far I can push that 630 now. Those videos are encouraging.

Honestly though, I would prefer to play Battle Brothers above most of my other games anyway. This is for science!
