This game have no proper Ironman mechanics and like to ♥♥♥♥ you with RNG from time s to times. And I am not even mentioning combat rolls.
Do not play it Ironman.
Unless you enjoy suffering or really want achievemnts.
But if you really want to play it put first crisis to be noble war - you can ignore it.
One thing with that too, there are some nice weapons and armor to be had in the war. You might not be ready to join at the start, but late into it you might want to. You also might end up in a situation where there's one weak house and you can get in it against them to get some nice weapons and armor (but only have a small portion of the map become off limits).
You should end up with plenty of time to decide if you want to join.
I was able to sneak my way and survive long enough for the end crisis to resolve itself, around day 180.
It can be done.
