How do I force Steam to download the windows native version of RMMV to be ran through Wine?
Because test play doesn't work for me in Linux native version (nothing happens when clicking it).

RM is largely unsupported for Linux (and I don't know much about WINE but I know it's probably not that good for RM.) Don't want to push you away from RM, but have you considered or looked at Godot?

That's not very helpful at all and I use Redot for anything serious, thank you very much. Also I know for a fact that Windows versions of all RMs work great under wine, just need a way to force Steam to download the Windoze version to run through Proton.

Get a windows pc, download steam, download program via steam, copy program files, paste into linux pc?
I just installed the one that was offered by steam on Linux. It wasn't running out of the box, though. But I got it running without the need of emulating the windows version.

I had a Linux expert fix it for me. It took him 5 minutes to find the problem and 3 seconds to fix it. He just changed a single settings in the code, and everything ran so smoothly, I sometimes forgot I was on Linux at all. Test runs went flawlessly, exports didn't show any problems. And I can even deploy games for windows. (Although I had to move them to a windows system to play them, but that makes sense, right?)

I just don't know enough about Linux to replicate his fix, let alone tell you how to do it.

However, the good news is that it is possible, and not even that hard to do, for a Linux expert like my nephew. I was lucky enough to have someone close who was more than happy to fix this for me, but Linux nerds like him are rare. He knows Linux better than I know RPG maker.

But if he could find the issue in a few minutes and instantly knows how to fix it, then there must be others who can do this too. I asked him before, if he was willing to make a little tutorial, but he has no love for RPG maker or its community.

The thing is, he wants me to leave windows for Linux, and I won't unless I can run MV. That was his motivation to solve this issue for me.

I'm surprised that there has not been an RPG maker loving Linux nerd who shared this solution yet. Maybe my nephew saw something no-one else did? Maybe the overlap of Linux users and RPG maker users is so small that no-one even tried? I don't know...

So... Maybe you have a better chance solving this, if you ask for help in the Linux community, instead of the RPG maker community. there are just not that many Linux users out here. (And that probably is because of the bug...)

Oh, before I forget, I use Debian. I don't know what Linux your on.

(When I say "a something something nerd" like a Linux nerd, I just mean someone who really knows their stuff, nothing mean. I just got tired of writing expert over and over. :p )
