This game is why I despise having a mac
Seriously the moment I give up this heap of junk I'm gonna have so much fun playing a seemingly endless well of games, like this one. Since this thing has been running for 6 good years, and I'm going to uni next year I'm gonna need a proper computer so I can procrastinate in the way I want to.

What should I look out for when switching to PC? (Sorry not Mega Man related but it's related in a really farfetched way)

You can run Windows on your mac for gaming FYI.

Hm I suppose, but I may want a more powerful system altogether. Maybe my laptop is just old (13 inch White macbook from late 2009), but it doesn't seem to be able to run anything smoothly. I have to play Goat Sim with the lowest graphical settings, and even then the frame rate drops significantly when an explosion goes off or something. Also macs are ExPeNsiVe. Maybe I can get a new Macbook pro with my Student finance stuff or with disability loans (ADHD), otherwise I'm looking for a cheap but powerful PC laptop.

Viruses everywhere? Yea, if you're dumb enough to click on any link Google brings up. Been running Windows forever now and haven't been infected since like, 4 years ago or so? Back before I even knew about working a PC properly. Common sense = Virus free. BTW OP Things to look out for are simple, get free Software to help keep your PC Safe just incase you accidentally do click a link or harmful download, stuff like MalwareBytes / CCleaner / Spybot and so on :) There's a whole list of useful programs over at www.reddit.com/r/PCMasterRace that'll help you customize / protect and keep your system clean :)

Late as hell, but i know when sites are BS, almost everyone should. but there are those times when people fall for sh*t and if they don't have a antivirus, they're f**ked. But luckily for me, there aren't too many viruses for mac. So even then i don't have too worry too much. All i have to do is watch out for mackeeper, that annoying piece of sh*t and i'm good. But windows & linux users are, well... not as lucky. They have a metric f**kton of viruses. But same for them, be careful and you'll be fine. (P.S Computer Skrubs, Antivirus programs don't always work and a lot of them have viruses themselves.)

Linux is safer than Mac. IMO

Well you don't have to be an Idiot to get a virus. Sometimes just going to a friends house and hooking up to their network can get you infected.
You're right, this really isn't directly Mega Man-related at all. Why would you even post this here? There are plenty of more suitable places to post it.

He was just giving his opinion on why he don't like having a Mac, nothing wrong with that.

Mac is over-rated. Not to bash the mac fans, but you're essentially paying double for a computer that is half as powerful, with no easy way to upgrade.

The main reason people tell me they get a Mac is because they can't get a virus. Is that really worth paying double? To me no. Not at all. There are plenty of ways to combat a virus in windows these days. There are system restores, you can always just reinstall windows, automatic backups, and 3rd party software. Personally I love Aoemi Backupper, you can save an image day one, and load it back up anytime. It's free!

The thing with Mac is that it is built for a specific consumer in mind. Mac says "this is what our consumers want, and this is all they will get". PC says "We don't know what you want, but we will give you the flexibility to do what you want". Mac has no idea what I want, and they can't know what everyone wants except people afraid of a virus, who can't googe-fu their way out of a jam.

One could argue that mac is better for video and audio production, but this is a myth. It use to be true, but now both are great options.

If you want a good gaming PC right now the absolute best route is building a PC. For anyone who can read and is not color blind it is a lot easier than you think. You will get the best bang for your buck, with option to upgrade as necessary. You don't even have to drop a grand if you shop around for parts, with intent to upgrade in the future. I built my brother a gaming PC for under $500.00 recently. Yeah it has a crap processor (but it can be upgraded), it has a Nvidia GTX 650, 8 gigs of ram, windows 7, and a overpowered PSU.

Of course if you want to drop a grand you can build a plenty powerful PC, it may not be eye candy, but will last you for a very long time. I have been using the same PC for 8 years now, and only upgraded the video card and cpu once. It runs everything. You can buy a $400 laptop every 3 years that sucks, or drop a grand now and upgrade till windows 10 is no more. Maybe even after that if you purchase wisely buy making sure you get a good socket motherboard.

In the long run a solid desktop will overpower a laptop anyday of the week, and save you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over the years. You can get a awesome mechanical keyboard too. Which is a huge plus for gaming.

I would steer clear of stuff like alienware, especially laptops. The video cards are a pain to upgrade, hard to locate, and ridiculous expeniive.

You should definitely ask yourself if you want to spend more now, and save in the future, or just buy a more powerful laptop and spend more over time.

For what it's worth I am a certifed CompTIA A+ technician.

It's a weird misconception that there exists no malware for Mac. There most certainly does and it has for years: Flashback infected 500k Macs back in 2012: http://www.smh.com.au/it-pro/security-it/rude-awakening-for-mac-users-serious-mac-flaw-needs-urgent-fix-20120405-1we6x.html Sure, it's nowhere near the same scale as for Windows but don't lull yourselves into a false sense of security thinking that you're absolutely immune. You still have to be careful what you click and what you download, where you download it from and what you install. No matter how secure the OS is there's no way to secure it against a user that "willingly" installs malware.

Anyway, OP, if you own the original cartridges then you're legally allowed to transfer the content of said cartridges to your computer (creating what's known as a ROM) and use it with an emulator. There are plenty of good NES emulators for Mac.
