As an old time casual fan of the Mega Man series, I was mildly intrigued by the prospect of reliving some classic gaming moments from the good old Nintendo entertainment system, in an era long before surprise mechanics and 20$ skins. And sure, the collection delivers... sort of.

Mega Man is to this day iconic in its premise. Evil mustachioed intellectual builds robot masters of doom to take over the world for a nefarious undefined purpose and good mustachioed intellectual sends Mega Man and his cronies to set things straight. Look, I might have missed a lorepaper somewhere but it is not really the important thing in the end.

The running and gunning and platforming feels just as gloriously stiff as I remember it and the music is just a cavalcade of hits that really hammers home how great parts of this series are. Overall it is all the good old greatness and I love it, however you need to have a sense of appreciation for old school gaming and i’d say pick it up on a sale.

If you're a glutton for pixelated power fantasies or just feeling nostalgic for the good ol' days of gaming, then go ahead and give Mega Man: Collection a whirl. Just don't say I didn't warn you when you find yourself contemplating the meaning of suffering after constantly botching a perfectly timed jump over a jolly pit of doom. And Dr.Wily might be the best name for a villain ever. No contest!

Mega-Man has many abilities, but none of them have been enough to help me beat these incredibly difficult games. In Legacy Collection Mega-Man has power over the flow of time, which is enough to make even Hard-Man tremble.

Finally getting a chance to complete these games that were too hard when I was a kid when we'd only have them for a couple days. Fabulous experience!
